Here's something we're betting Sony will want to wish away using its "magic wand." Speaking with 1UP, Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi (Resident Evil 5) noted, "Speaking to other developers in Japan, I've heard a few of them say they were delighted by the Sony motion controller because they can just port over their Wii titles to the PS3."

We're going to be optimistic here and presume these devs are at least considering a fresh coat of pixels for their ports. It's probably of more concern that, outside of Nintendo's first-party offerings, we've yet to see many studios even get Wii motion control right. Somehow, it's hard to picture Sony saying, "Yes, we welcome your waggle-infused minigame compilations with open arms!" Then again, PS3 "does everything" -- maybe even Wii games.

I figured this would be the case, though I still hope some developers might opt to move to PS3 development and port down to the Wii.

I hope that this is how it works and not the other way around, which I can fear from some lazy developers. This could be what Sony needs to push this technology considering that they could a bigger library right away if only the good titles were ported over and not crap............I hope there is quality control on what is being released, because let the floodgates open up to shovelware.

RE5 with motion controls looks just like the standard game, but there's a cursor on screen at all times reflecting your motion control movements. You play with one hand holding the wand and one hand holding the standard Dual Shock.

Takeuchi says the motion-control-based game has a real direct control feel. The game is titled Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition. In addition to the motion controls, the disc will include extra contents that have been requested by a number of people. Details on the extra content will be shown in a teaser movie at the Capcom booth later today. The motion version of RE5 hits in Spring.

Next, they're showing a special version of LittleBigPlanet. This one is played two players -- one holding the wand, one the Dual Shock.

The wand is used as a pointer here again.

The player uses the wand to manipulate the environment directly, lifting platforms, turning contraptions and so-forth.

They show a large list of titles, some of which are just updates. Ape Escape, A new Echochrome, Sing and Draw, Machi Suberi... not sure what that is!, Champions of Time, Motion Party, The Shoot, and Tower. Update titles include Mr. Pain, Flowery, Hustle King, High Velocity Bolwing, and EyePet.
