And if you already own those games, would you not already own a PS2 to play them on?

    Just sayin'

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...

So I downloaded another movie for rent the other day 'Inception' and chose the SD version and it only took about 2 hours to download. I also forgot that the PS3 upscales SD to HD where applicable and the movie looked really good on my HDTV. It wasn't as clear as The Town, but still a good quality picture.

If you still have the PS2 games, I'd say just buy a PS2 if you want to play them. I have a PS2 slim and have it hooked up in my basement for when the Mrs. is watching Grey's Anatomy or something and I'm stuck without use of my PS3 or 360.

It's cool that Sony is doing something with its PS2 library for the PS3 and in an ideal world, it would be fantastic to make all PS3s backwards compatible (especially since this was a feature with the PS2), but I don't think we will see that as an option.

Updates come out so often that you don't want to be stuck waiting for some company to get around to writing an update. We see an update on a friday afternoon, and it is on 100 devices by the next morning...while "PSJailbreak" users are still waiting for updates from months ago.

Thanks for all your input guys.I just can't see why Sony wouldn't do this. chefdad,I like your idea about taking the best of ps2 heck even ps1 just add them into HD engine and so forth .All Sony has to is put the dam in fort of remaking making the graphics,I mean really is it that hard ?They crapped them self when they stopped making emulation stuff for the ps3 just ugh at Sony for that mistake .I did have a ps3 that plaid them before a launch fat 60gb , Sold it for an elite 360 , I know the worst move I ever did.Later on I bought a slim 120gb ps3 .It is a good system for the ps3 stuff. But I am kind of old school and wouldn't mind playing some of the old games tho .I just don't see the downfall why Sony doesn't do emulation for the ps3 just another bonus for sell / resale etc.

If it is a BC model, you can get good money for it on eBay, etc.

I seen them still sell for the $300 range.

I did this when gamestop had the 200.00 deal. Best move I made. I miss the extra usb ports though and the memory card slots and the BC but I have workarounds for this. I bought a usb hub, a usb memory card reader, and put the PS2 up in my boys' bedroom.

This was going to be my first option but I've never sold anything on Ebay and didn't want to hassle with learning it.

Chef, they do sell a reader that will give you back the extra usb ports and card reader.

That's awesome. I'm a bit leary though about 3rd party products. They always seem to screw up my systems one way or another. Anybody try this yet?

I'm going to check out some reveiws on Amazon. If they seem positive I'll be all over this.

                        Thanks E.R.

Yeah I have one too and it works well. Although I would like something that looked less cluttery (Is that even a word?) that fits seemlessly to the PS3 but the thought of a third party peripheral jackin up my PS3 doesn't sit too well.

It is backwards compatible, I would just want a quieter system with a slightly bigger hd. I don't even play ps2 games so it's not really a + for me to keep this. Also, I'm just scared my 60 gb will eventually die like others.
