Cool. I'll accept whenever I get online again. Still need to pickup a router sometime soon so I can be online all the time instead of being old school with the ethernet cable, lol.

Here's Jeff Rubenstein's response to the White Blog layout (last year):

Hey, Why is the PlayStation.Blog White?

Unless this is the first time you’ve ever visited this site* – you probably noticed that we’ve inverted the color palette on the Blog. The aim wasn’t to save your eyesight (though this configuration apparently is easier on your eyes), and we didn’t just make a change for change’s sake.

There are lots of changes – this isn’t just a re-skinning:
              • New navigation makes it easy to find games, TV series, movies, and original shows from any page and browse the entire site from one interface.
              • New search is powered by Google and lets you find what you’re looking for, instantly.
              • Interactive marquees give you video, screenshots and more info about our most exciting content.
              • You can easily share anything from videos and screenshots to whole pages with your friends using the “Share” icons on each page.
              • Our new Web platform is keeping everything running fast and smooth.
              • Finally, and most importantly :-), the PlayStation.Blog is more prominent. You’ll spot new posts on the homepage and throughout the site.

Loved that White layout and I'm sure the majority did as well - it's straight clutter now.

Agreed about it being to cluttered or busy. They did take note of that when it first launched. So hopefully it gets cleaned up.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...

I have searched for an answer to my question and still have come up with nothing that works. I just bought a PS3 slim and tried hooking it up to my Philips HDTV via the same HDMI cord that I have used with my 360. For some reason I can get any picture at all with the HDMI even after a hard reset and the "10 seconds pressing the power button" with no success. The component cable works fine with no problems but I cant get it to change to HDMI for the life of me. I have tried all the HDMI ports on my tv, turned the tv off them PS3 on then tv on and still no luck. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

This may be a dumb post, but have you checked the box in the settings to use HDMI as the output to the TV? I could be wrong here, but I remember doing this on my 40 GB fat PS3. It is under "Display Settings" and then "Video Output Settings".

Hopefully this helps and I am not being Captain Obvious.

Yes I have had to boot with the component cables and I go to the settings and change to HMDI and click change. Screen goes blank and no sound. I also flip over to the corresponding HDMI input channel and nothing.

                          Maybe this seasprite....

                          From avsforums:

...I went thru a similar thing when I first tried mine with HDMI. Could get it to work for a while, then no. Then audio would work on movies, but not games (talking optical here). It did indeed seem very fickle and the several hours I spent with it I was none to happy.

However, the unit has settled down the past couple of days and works perfect thru HDMI and optical now. Here is what I did:

I discounted HDMI and hooked up thru composite. I set up the wireless connection and had it check for updates. There of course was one, so download it and installed it (pretty much an auto process). I then did a power down including turning off on the rear of the unit (don't know if this was needed...but did it anyway).

While powered off I hooked up HDMI, leaving the composite plugged in. I then turned on the main power at the rear. I then touched the power button holding for 5 seconds till I heard the 2nd beep. The unit defaulted to run thru composite.

I then went thru the set up area and changed the display out to HDMI. Now when I did this the screen went blank and my display did not switch over. However I switched to HDMI on the display and sure enough, there was the image just fine. I then said "yes" I wanted to keep this setting to save it. I then unplugged the composite. I then set up audio thru optical.

Since that time I have been using the wireless controler to power down. Now my display automatically picks up the HDMI signal switches over. I have had no troubles at all since and all has been well.

Don't know if this will work for you, but worth a shot.

Damn, I know exactly what you're talking about because the same thing happened to me. It's a very simple thing you have to do and I know it has something to do with just checking a box/option in the picture settings or something like that, I just can't remember what it was.

I'll try finding the page I found that let me know what I was missing.

EDIT: I don't think this is what I found when I had the same issue, but have you tried this:

I had the exact same problem and is an easy fix. All you need to do is hook up the HDMI and the standard AV into two seperate inputs because the PS3 is set to the standard AV from the box. Go to the standard AV input on your TV and set the ps3 up for the HDMI connection and then switch to the HD input on your television and it should work.
