I should be backing up my stuff now in fact. You never know when you'll need to actually do it. Did you read anything about 40GB models?
actually u have a good point. from my readings also the 80gb has less of a failure rate than the 60 and 40gb.

my friend who stays with me has a 40gb and he is just had his second YLOD in a month.

Well my 40GB finally got the YLOD and gave up on me on the 1st of December. Put it up on craiglist for 100 and got 80 for it not too shabby, picked up the slim 160GB holiday pack with uncharted 2 today. Hopefully this one serves me well!

I backed mine up earlier today. I still wouldn't be happy if it did YLOD, because that means a $150 replacement (unless it's more now) plus having to restore the data. The last time I did it, I lost all of my downloads (which of course meant re-downloading hundreds of items), my album sorting, and many saves including Rock Band. It was ugh-tastic.

I agree considering how slow the psn network is with d/l.

What do you guys recommend for warranty beyond the 1 year. I'm not getting a feel for how quickly a YLOD happens. We'll be using the 320 Slim.

                    i have the 120gb slim.

i originally had a 60 i bought in 07 that YLOD, sent that in and got back another 60 which YLOD. fixed that one and sold it to gamestop. bought the 120.

my friend has a 40gb that YLOD. the warranty company fixed it and sent it back to him 2 weeks ago. it just messed up again a couple of days ago. it has to YLOD 2 more times for them to just give him a giftcard for the price he payed for it.

My brother just got YLOD on his original 20GB PS3. He has had this thing since about a month after launch. I kept bugging him to ditch it over the summer when GameStop was giving $200 TIC and just get a slim, but he never did. Since this has BC, even the YLOD ones on ebay are fetching for a decent price so he plans to sell it on there and go get another one.

Ill say I'm glad I sold mine to GS when I did, (it was about to die on me I'm sure of it) but I've heard the fix is so easy to do that I would have rather done that then git rid of it. (60gig orig) I probably could have fixed it up nice and sold it for a little higher than what I got it for.

Can any 2.0 HUB splitter work with the new slim PS3's? I'm afraid with it only having 2 USB inputs, we won't be able to do Rock Band 3 this Christmas, which sort of defeats the purpose. I know the mics are universal and the keyboard I bought is for the PS3. I'm also adding one of those adapters to use the Xbox guitar on the PS3. But the splitter is the question.

I bought a cheapo 3.99 hub at big lots last year and have been using for the same thing ever since. So I would assume yeah, any one will work.

I'm pretty sure my Blu-Ray drive just died... Was playing GT5 and a race failed to finish loading (odd, since I have the game fully installed anyway), and now the disc icon won't show up on the XMB for anything - PS3, PS2, audio, you name it.

FML. Guess I'll try to get it cleaned first, but if that doesn't work...
