Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...

Can I download softwares (not to hack games) into my PS3 ? and if so, do I get banned or something ? what types of softwares should I avoid ?

The thing is this, I want to access some pages like gamespot and others where I cant see anything but the back ground, I think it has to do with either java, flash or something alike not being updated ... I read somewhere that I needed update 10.0 or higher, so want to update it ...

Also cant see many videos on most sites, like ign and other webs that mostly present tv series and animes ... some ask for pluggins (what are they by the way ?), others for different internet browsers like chrome & mozzila ...

Finally, cant post in some sites using the PS3, like her in OS (had to borrow a friends pc for some minutes to post this, depite me doing post of many words it always claims that I did less than 10) and cant access my hotmail accounts (thus might have to do with it being of Microsoft, then again, no workaround ?) ...

Any detailed info would be very appreciated, as I have had to rely on my PS3 as my laptop is damaged and since I am workless, cant fix it in the near time.

I got about 20-30GB of gamedata on my system from games I no longer play(many of them were like 5000mb), so thinking bout deleting all those. Since I only got like 25GB of space left on my PS3(120gb)
      I delete that stuff, personally.

As do I. I keep my save files, but I always delete game data when I've completed a game. If I'm gonna play the game again, I'll just reinstall it.

Same here. Saves I'll save, but game data of games I will not play again are deleted.

There's lots of DIY fixes; hair dryers, ovens, heat guns and thermal paste. Most are temporary from and hour to a few months. The only sure fix is sending to Sony or finding a local shop that'll repair it proper.

You may be able to get the disk out by letting it cool for a while and seeing if it'll power up just long enough to spit the disk.

In the process of purchasing a PS3... What do you guys think is the CHEAPEST route of getting a controller? I'm buying a console from someone but it only includes one controller. I'm mainly looking for the standard Sony Dualshock.

I find a good way to get a controller cheap is to buy one of the game and controller bundles and then turn the game over on ebay. Usually cost around 55 minus what you get for the game. Not sure if there are any recent good bundles available right now though.

My PS3 has a mind of its own...

Whenever I go to shut it down, it'll shut down and like a second later start back up. How do I fix this?

Also, it beeps every few seconds when I play Uncharted 1, and the yellow light next to the green one blinks periodically while playing that same game. What does this mean?

Do you have PS Plus? If so, I've noticed this happens too... but it's only during my two hour interval I set for it to do automatic updates. It turns back on automatically to do these things. Is it doing that for you, or just going back to the main menu?

Yep, I have PS Plus, but the time I designated for the 2 hr interval was 4AM-6AM. I have been just on the main menu (dashboard?) and hitting turn off console, and it would cut itself back on. Oddly enough, knowing that it'd just cut itself back on anyway, I left it on as I left out the house, and when I came back home it was off.

Google search seems to indicate this is pretty common.

No one seems to know the problem though one guy said he switched the adaptor to a different power outlet and it stopped happening.
