greetings. i have a 360, wii and ps2. i'm considering a ps3.

can someone here tell me what re the must have games for ps3 right now? i know about socom and metal gear solid, but those aren't out yet.

Uncharted of course. if u are into basketball NBA 2K8. FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 3 AND CALL OF DUTY 4!

Just bought a 40GB PS3 heres my impressions...

System:

The system itself feels very solid and well built where my 360 feels fragile. It is damn near silent besides sometimes I hear "clicking" when playing uncharted. Having WIFI built in saved me money and the added blu ray makes it that much better. The only thing that I really didnt like was HD cables where not included. Very annoying when you bring home a ps3 and it looks like crap on your HDTV. But I bought cables and it looks great now.

System Grade: A

Dashboard/Interface:

I owned a PSP so its pretty familar. Im not really a fan of it but it does what its suppose too. I do like how when you scroll over a demo it changes the background and plays music. I still definitally prefer the 360 dashboard over the XMB of the playstatoin.

Dashboard Grade: C+

Playstation Network:

Well a good thing are obviously its free which is awesome. So far ive played Resistance and Warhawk online and haven't had any lag even in full 20 on 20 resistance games. But other than that not much else is very good compared to 360. When I first booted up my PS3 it took 10-15 minutes downloading/installing updates (on 360 this takes 20-30 seconds). Then the resistance update took another 5 minutes (360 games take 5 seconds). Demos download about the same speed as 360 but you have to then "install" them which takes another 5-10 minutes depending how big the demo is. Also no cross game invites, in game chat and no in game XMB. Another thing I didnt like was that there wasnt a demo for all the arcade games like 360 and I thought the store was setup lousy and confusing.

Playstation Network: C-

GAMES:

So far ive bought warhawk and resistance. Warhawk wasnt my thing so I returned it and got Uncharted. Resistance is alot of fun and Uncharted is amazing. Only game I liked more than Uncharted recently was Bioshock. I have downloaded demos of motorstorm and Ratchet and plan on buying both. Looking ahead im gonna get MLB The Show, MGS 4, Little Big Planet and a few others. I still plan on buying most muliplatform games for 360 since theres achievements, better online and most my friends have 360.

Games: B+

OVERALL:

Since buying my PS3 I havent touched my 360. Uncharted is better than any 360 game ive bought besides bioshock. One thing that was really bad is that pile of **** movie spiderman 3 that came with it. That movie is absolutly terrible and way worse then the first 2 which I thought were ok.

The system is pretty damn feature packed right now. I didn't know you can browse your PC music files remotely AND download and save them to your PS3 locally. I was doing this last night... that was so sick!

My only gripe are the file size limits on Divx files.... it's really the only thing that really gets to me.

Whats funny is the in game menu was already shown a while ago, before the PS3 was even released. FF to the end of the video.

What are the file size limits for Divx? Not sure exactly what you're referring to, but I'd like to learn. The Divx feature is something I'm loving for 360 and PS3

Yeah, fish is right. It's 2GB. There is no limit on the 360.

Some say there is but I've played an 8GB divx file without any problems (to clarify, on the 360).

On the PS3 it will play the first 2GB's worth of the movie and just stop.

I've noticed that some Divx files will play on 360 but not PS3 as well...it's nice to have both. On occasion some movies won't play on either, but I find that's more common on movies with random encoding compared with TV shows...movies are more likely to be different I think.

I've played plenty of files off both a flash drive and hard drive and have found no problems with either.

I'm sure, the larger the files, the more difficulty you'll encounter. Your rate of transfer increases thus the chance of video stutter during playback, especially on slower media.

Does the PS3 play burned DVD's that have the Divx files on them? I'm thinking of burning DVD's with stuff I've DL'ed just to free up HD space (my 250 GB external filled up fast lol) I wonder if the 360 will see a burned DVD and allow you to play files off of there too...hmmm
