Never understood the love for accomplishments. Who gives a damn what someone else has done on a game?

In game XMB would be nice though for chats and such.

I could see buddies with the same game having a good time trying to accomplish more achievements than the other. It seems like a good way to prolong games as well.

It's just the evolution of "High Score"...people used to fight for high score on Donkey Kong or Pac Man in the arcades. This is just the new version, because most games don't have a "score" per se.

I'm not as into it as some guys *cough EG *, but I think they do add value to a game at a pretty damn inexpensive cost overall.

I like achievements, they actually help me get through games I wouldn't otherwise play through. Sad, but true.

I agree. Achievements add some re-playability to games and some of them can be quite challenging to get.

I traded in all of my 360 stuff yesterday and paid an extra $80 to get a 40 gig PS3. Played a few games of College Hoops last night, looks great in 720p on my 19" LCD monitor. I need to download the system update and sign up for PSN tonight.

Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Such a solid system, and it is ridiculous how much quieter it is compared to the 360.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...

I have a quick question. I am about to take the splurge and get a PS3, and I was wondering if I can use an extra HDMI cable I have at home, or if I have to buy the specific one for the PS3. I know with the 360 you have to use their cable.

                    Thanks!

I believe you could use any HDMI cable.

i'm getting close to finishing the deal..selling my 360 and stuff for a ps3. i have 2 questions...

                          1) besides HDD space and a few SD or USB ports, is there any difference in the 40gb models or the 80 or even future 120-160GB models?

                          2) will the new rumble ps3 controllers also have the six axis stuff in them? i'm also assuming these will be heavier too.

also, i'm planning on getting uncharted as my only game until the show comes out...how have you guys like that one? thanks!

                            1)

Yes. The 80GB can play PS2 games and the 40GB cannot. The 40GB also doesn't support SACD and the 80GB does.

As far as the new model, no clue as there are no specs out on it yet.

                            2)

Yes it does have the sixaxis and it does feel heavier. But in a good way.

Uncharted was a possible GOTY, probably GOTY on PS3.....Can't go wrong, just a game that sucks you in and keeps you playing to see what happens.
