Working in software myself, we have the same tools in place. As well as do many other software developers. MS has the same thing for their own developing software.

So I don't see how it is laughable. You are downloading an OS you are not suppose to be downloading and installing it on the 360. Even though it bans you from online temporary, it is still a no no and I'm sure is covered in their TOS somewhere. Not to mention MS has a strong attitude against any kind of piracy, no matter how small so it is far from laughable.

Even 360fanboy wouldn't be surprised if bans or suspensions were handed out.

If you're able to burn games on the hard drive, does that mean once it burned you don't need the original disk? If that's the case, then I'll just burn the game and return the original. That way, I'll still have the game, but can return the game (or trade it in) and get some money back.

Disk must be in the drive to play the game.

The most asked question in this thread. Do you guys really think MS would overlook something like this?

The answer is no, you need the disc to be in the drive.

that's one thing that kept the ps2 from being able to hype this years ago. You could put ps2 games on a HDD, and do it totally legit with your own games, but since there's no disk check like this, it's used mostly for piracy.

There's a real benefit to doing this if you have the HDD space. Quicker load times, less noise, and less wear on the console. I'm glad that they did put this disk check in place. I enjoyed doing this on my ps2, and I'll do it for most games I'm playing at the moment on my 360.

I'm looking at 120 GB Hard drives on eBay...do you guys think a refurbished one is bad or no? I'm seeing some black (elite?) ones out there for around 100 which doesn't sound too bad. Just wondering what you guys would recommend, I'd hate to pay retail for a new one!

I don't think I've heard a 360 HDD go corrupt so you should be good to go.

The black one will work on regular non elite 360's, right? Stupid question, I know, but just want to make sure there's nothing special. I don't care about the color differences or anything, no one sees that crap anyways.

*edit* Eh, I may just pay 150 to get one new and now. If I'm paying 100 plus shipping anyways I'm not sure it's worth the 20-40 I save buying refurbished...gotta think about it. Plus I'd get Best Buy Gamer Club points I think lol

this ebay seller always has a bunch up. Has pretty good feedback too. I've seen some of his 120 gig HDD's end at a little over $70.

i bought a used 120 gb hdd at gamestop and when i got home and opened it it was all beat up. it worked, but was just BEAT UP. deep scratches on the chrome, scratches on the top, looked like someone ran it over with a dumptruck. i am very picky so i returned it and got my money back. it was $100 so i hit best buy and got a brand new one for $150. it is pretty, came with the transfer cable/disc and after i sold my 20 gb on ebay i only spent like $115. not too bad and now i am ready for the update...

                              Five Community Games to Watch

When the Xbox 360 dashboard gets a face-lift next month, part of the new package will be a new Community Games section featuring independently developed games from around the world, designed with Microsoft's XNA tools and vetted by a network of peer reviewers.
                              Weapon of Choice

Weapon of Choice was developed by an indie outfit called Mommy's Best Games. Essentially a one-man operation, MBG is run by former Insomniac Games dev Nathan Fouts, whose resume includes boss programming and weapon design work on games such as Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Resistance: Fall of Man and Postal 2. The most surprising thing about Weapon of Choice isn't its psychedelic color palette, retro-inspired gameplay or slimy, nightmarish bestiary. Rather, it's that it actually feels like a complete idea rather than a jumble of exploratory code and half-baked ideas like many other Community Games.

Microsoft dedicated a large portion of the Community Games event floor space to Weapon of Choice, and for good reason. This 2D side-scrolling action game is just plain crazy, and I mean that in a good way. Inspired by old-school SEGA Genesis games like Gain Ground and Contra: Hard Corps, WoC features over-the-top weapons and characters, mind-bending bosses and some unique gameplay elements that are designed to elicit "You've got to be kidding me" responses. We're talking giant spider bosses with pendulous pink udders, guns that extend to fire around corners and vertiginous parallax environments done in a day-glo retro color palette.

Not to mention the spot-on caricatures of Wilford Brimley and Carl Weathers (trust me, it's uncanny). I have yet to play the full game, but Weapon of Choice seems bound to please fans of old-school side-scrolling shooters. MBG has clearly put a ton of time and energy into the game, and it's the one title I'm most looking forward to playing once Community Games goes live.
