I uhh...may or may not know someone who took a look at the NXE on an old console he or she had sitting in a closet with a completely formatted hard drive and he or she may or may not have tried to connect to XBL with a new account and was unable to do so. If that person I know did or did not try this, I'll have to let you guys know the status of that old console once the update goes live on November 19th.

As a side note, I have an old console (COMPLETELY unrelated ) I'm looking to sell. Any takers?

MS would be IDIOTS to ban those who got it early. First off its a FREE download, its not truly pirating when its FREE. Also many many many people did this, and MS isn't willing to lose all that money from Live subscribers. Get the stick out of your *** MS.

if people were willing to give up weeks of Live to do this, then that's all the punishment they should get. I didn't do it to mine because it's just a 7.5 MB offline dashboard update. It doesn't have half of the the hyped features, so I guess MS has to say this for legal reasons if people somehow mess up their update. They won't ban anyone.

It doesn't even have half, lol. All that's there is the new menus and the ability to copy games to the HD. That's it. The new interface is pretty damn slick though!

Can't say I really care much - but my wife and I decided to sign up for Netflix, and I happened to notice that with your Netflix account, you can download some movies on the new XBOX thing. So that might be really cool.

Kinda disapointed about not being able to copy games to harddrive and not using the disc. But I do understand how people would take advantage of this by renting and copying a whole bunch of games. Also looking forward to the netflix deal next week. Can't seem to come fast enough.

Yeah...I'd just buy hard drive after hard drive and use GF to get tons of games for free and keep them. Not what MS wants.

Although I'm not surprised either, I think it's because most games (like me) are lazy and they don't want to leave the couch to put a new disc in. My perception anyway!

The only thing they could do would be to offer 360 games for sale on the marketplace and then they'd be linked to the Gamertag and console per current DRM rules. But then people whine saying "ZOMG I don't have the disc and can't play anywhere I want easily"...

I totally understand, and I'm lazy too, but I don't think there's a solution that really works great.
