Re: Xbox Experience coming 11/19 - requires 128mb of space

Looks like those who downloaded NXE and weren't authorized may get the ban hammer on november 19th when the update goes live...

We’re just a little over a week away from the grand debut of the New Xbox Experience, at which point we’ll all be gussying up our Avatars and sorting out our Netflix instand queues and trying to remember why we were so attached to the Blades in the first place. But there are some people who can’t wait, folks who have gone ahead and jumped on the bandwagon early even though it was forbidden, and those poor souls will be punished.

Not long after the early NXE access went out to review outlets and a few lucky contest winners, the files found their way onto the Internet. Thus, savvy pirate types are able to easily download the files and then plug them into their Xbox, thereby giving them early access to NXE. There are two problems though, first is that these folks can’t connect to Xbox Live until at least November 19 (since that’s when Microsoft flips the switch and turns it on), but even worse is the fact that these "pirates" may be permanently banned from Xbox Live.

When the early releases of NXE went out, Microsoft sent this strongly worded warning to participants: "In participation with this program, you should not move your storage device (hard drive, or memory unit if you do not have a hard drive) to any other console as it will also update that console. If an unregistered console is updated with the NXE update, that console will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE until the NXE has been officially released on November 19th." When asked to clarify what would happen to unathorized users, Microsoft added, "This is a security measure and if you do switch hard drives from a console with NXE preview access to one without it you could be placed on the ban list for unauthorized usage."

So the long and short of it is that if you don’t yet have authorized access to NXE, it would behoove you to just cool your heels until November 19 and wait it out. If you just can’t wait any longer though, go ahead and knock yourself out, just don’t say we didn’t warn you.

I almost expected anyone who did it to be banned from Live. But I believe MS is blowing smoke and won't do it. Just banned until the 19th.

Re: Xbox Experience coming 11/19 - requires 128mb of space

        Ok I have a question:

I'm keeping the 360 I have (20gig) and giving it to my daughters who have thier own profiles and game saves.
I'm buying either the Elite or Pro (Probably Pro) for myself.

Now the question. If I use the tranfer disk stuff does that make the 20 gig system HD useless to my daughters?
Or should I just move my profile and game saves via memery card instead of using the dis transfer utility?

Thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question....

I don't know if I understand the question, but the transfer moves everything from the 20 gig drive to the larger drive, and wipes the 20 gig drive. You can still use the 20 gig drive after the transfer.

Yeah, so my guess is that you'd want to use the transfer cable and then set up the old 360 again for them (move their profiles and saves with mem card) because you probably have more saves and stuff than they do.

Gotcha. I'll transfer everything first and then move thier stuff over to the older 360 because yes they will have tons less than me.

              Thanks a bunch!

MS would be IDIOTS to ban those who got it early. First off its a FREE download, its not truly pirating when its FREE. Also many many many people did this, and MS isn't willing to lose all that money from Live subscribers. Get the stick out of your *** MS.

I uhh...may or may not know someone who took a look at the NXE on an old console he or she had sitting in a closet with a completely formatted hard drive and he or she may or may not have tried to connect to XBL with a new account and was unable to do so. If that person I know did or did not try this, I'll have to let you guys know the status of that old console once the update goes live on November 19th.

As a side note, I have an old console (COMPLETELY unrelated ) I'm looking to sell. Any takers?

Should be able to. More of a question of whether or not Netflix's servers will be able to handle the load.
