Just don't pay $150 to Sony. Find a local guy on Craig's List that fixes them. He'll fix it in a couple hours, you keep all your saves, and it will be half price. You can always try to fix it yourself with the youtube guide but I don't think I'd try that.

so if I sell this on ebay, how would I go about protecting the account with my credit card info that auto logs in? Would changing the password on the ps3 site be enough?

I would reformat your hard drive and wipe everything off it before giving it to anyone.

Deactivate your account and delete all of your usernames before you format your hard drive first.

I cant do anything with the red screen popping up after the wave start screen. I've even gone into the recovery menu by holding the power button, but every option just kicks back out to the red screen.

I don't have any way to just format the SATA HDD outside the ps3 either.

Then try and find a way that you can contact Sony to deactivate your account for you. As long as it's activated and there is a username tied into it, there is always some chance that someone can get into it.

My suggestion then is to remove the hard drive completely. Either you can possibly format it with your computer or everything will be wiped out when you remove it anyway.

I'm just trying to tie up all loose ends in case any of your info gets leaked out, that's all.

nevermind, I changed the password and deleted any billing address and credit card info through the sony website.

Now it's on ebay, and hopefully fetches a decent amount.

Okay then. It's still best if you can find a way to deactivate your account for your sake though, as you can only have it on five PS3's at one time (I utilize that at least, I don't know about you lol). At least you did what you could.

Well, I went to best buy and bought a Seagate 250GB hard drive but unfortunately, im still getting the YLOD. I even removed and put back in the old hard drive but still no luck. Ill have to now talk with my brother in law and set up a time for me to go down there and get this thing done. Still contemplating sending it off to Sony.

it does kinda seem that way.

its not the hard drive thats the problem. most likely overheating so your motherboard might be fried and/or your fan stopped working.
"on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"
Man there are no flashers... now what are we going to do for vd
I'm sure there's plenty of prostitutes you could pay if you really want vd.
yea but will they take psn cards
Depends on what area of a hooker you would use to redeem them.

                          lol

Its not the fan. I have an intercooler on the back so if the internal fan isnt running the intercooler would vent it.

I've changed the ps3 blu-ray lens 3 times and it works for about an hour and it dies after and doesn't work again.. What in the world could be the problem?? Do I need a new blu-ray drive? I'm getting tired of this crap..I'm about to trash this system if I can't fix it pretty soon.
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

so, my broken ps3 got bid up to $202 dollars, and it doesn't even end until Friday.

Either I'm missing something about the Red Screen of Death, or ebay bidders are. $200 seems a lot to pay for something clearly listed as broken. I was only expecting like maybe $100.
