Yeah, probably not going to be long.
PS3 Slim's are topping the sales charts everywhere. Hope Microsoft is paying attention to the power of a price cut. Yes, that was a hint...Go Noles!!! >>-----> -
Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
Yup, 360 Elite Goes $299 On August 30
And so it begins. This is a page from the latest Wal-Mart catalogue, due August 30, advertising the Xbox 360 Elite at $299, a whole $100 cheaper than its current price.
With Meijer's catalogue also advertising a $299 Elite for August 30, let's end the conjecture right here. This is definitely happening.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
That looks to be the new packaging, no pack-in-games. Also, no HDMI cable (as was rumored) but just composite. Still, a good deal.
But I wonder how well it really stacks up against a PS3 now?5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
PS3 looks much more attractive at $299. There's already been a $299 price point for the 360, so I'm not sure how they plan to message this to consumers. I stick by what I said before, and that's a $299 PS3 will outsell the 360 even with the $199 Arcade.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
I agree flawless.... The Ps3 was a great machine even at 399. Problem is that's alot of money for 1 to spend when you add a game and another controller.. With that said Ps3 at 299 is a amazing deal and watch sales now... I personally want to get the older Ps3 not the slim. With that said I really think that Microsoft needs to add the wireless adapter to the Elite....Other then that the 360 will fall behind and quick..Comment

Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
I don't know, I don't think even that would help considering the PS3 slim is still a pretty damn good BD player and is a lot more reliable. I don't think it will be much of a competition with them both at the same price.PS: You guys are great.

Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
Microsoft was supposed to undercut SONY... not match it with their "Elite" console. At $299.99.. the PS3 still holds much more value being that it doubles as a blu ray player alone. It's a nice price for an Elite and I hope it brings about a price cut to the actual hard drive, but I just can't see how they can market the 360 having more value than a PS3http://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis

Don't forget the Sony Style offer if you're not a member. 100 dollar credit on your first purchase of 299 or more. You can get a PS3 for 199 basically. You can pre-order the slim on their site too.Comment

Yes XBL is better for the most part but to the average consumer, BR, WiFi, better entertainment capabilities, and free online out weight the Elite.
The Elite is a price cut but no where as big as the PS3. The bottom line is the 360 stays where it is with a bigger HDD and different color.Comment

The ps3 is the best value right now, but both have a pretty stout lineup coming late this year and early next to push sales. Then we have the motion stuff coming out late next year.Comment

Re: XBox 360 Elite price drop
Oh, I don't think the PS3 is going to outsell the 360 by very much, and it really is out reach in the U.S. market. September is going to be interesting. First month sales for the Slim and Elite at $299. Microsoft has a couple things going for them though, and that's the remaining Pro models in the channel are surely coming down in price to clear them out faster, and a new Halo game. It doesn't quite have the hype of Halo 3 or Halo 2, but it's going to help move some hardware.
Anyways, I think Microsoft needs to consider putting a 20GB HDD in the Arcade. $199 is a magical price point, but what's being offered isn't. They should also pack-in a 1st party title with every Elite, it would cost them practically nothing to do so, maybe some timed subscriptions for Gold and Netflix too.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Agreed. Not to mention WiFi which is $100 extra on the 360 and free online.

Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
