Thanks, Phobia. I am getting a severance package and the company has stated they will not contest unemployment, so I have something to get by for a little while as I look for a new job.

I guess it's because the older generation (my father in law is a "hard as nails" builder) see videogames as something only children do and most "normal" people will/should grow out of it.

With that being said just about everyone my age and younger plays videogames alot so they stigma is slowly being removed i think. Videogames still have that "nerd in his mother's basement" stigma. Just look at the article about Andy Murray being dumped by his girlfriend for playing too many videogames:

But I might have a different opinion if I bought nerdy non-sports games.
100% agree. I get that feeling too haha. It's never stopped me from having a system or a game, but I get that feeling!

I don't have anyone like that. My mom knows I play games, I'm 24. I just get a weird feeling walking into a gamestop or asking an employee at wal-mart to get a game for me.

Honestly it's probably the fear of an attractive girl seeing me get the game.

LOL, oh no, a hot girl may see me buying a videogame!

Yeah, if you are worried about that, then obviously the girl isn't meant to be anyway. Are you going to always hide the fact that you play videogames from her? LOL

If you walk in gamestop and there's a good looking girl in there why not talk to her about games since she's obviously interested in them?

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I was just thinking about this before I came across this thread tonight.
I have a baseball game (MLB The show 09), Football (Madden10), and then the shame kicked in when I realized I'm playin 4 different basketball games (CH2k8, NBA2k10, NCAABBall10, and NBA Live 10) wtf? lol...why there's 4 bball games i'm rotating I can't really explain.

IDK how many more ill buy, I like what I have, and I too like one of the other guys mentioned recently got laid off. So I may roll with what I got and know is good, even as badly as I already want The Show 10.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I think what bothers me most is no matter WHAT game i'm playing I am thinking of the other games i'm NOT playing, which makes me feel awful. I haven't even played games since last Friday simply because I can't decide which game "deserves" my play time now.

I just take too long to get through games, which makes it even longer before i move onto the next one. Like right now I'm working my way through Batman AA and a about 25% through it. Meanwhile I still have Borderlands, COD MW and God of War collection staring me in the face not to mention Bioshock and Fallout 3 that I still want to get through someday. Then you have the sports games I play all of the time like NBA2k and the Show, just not enough hours in the week!

Yeah, who cares? As if her likely celebrity obsessions aren't pathetic? Funny how it's okay for people to go nuts over things like Twilight but gamers are automatically labeled as geeks because of their hobby. Get real.

Exactly lol. I'll mention to girls that I play games, and they're usually cool with it, though I do try and mention that I don't play hours and hours of WoW or something completely stereotypical. Gaming's fun, but life is more a priority...who would want to date someone that puts games before you?

Right...and that would go for any hobby someone may have. If someone is more worried about A-Rod's batting average than having a good time with their g/f, eventually she's going to get tired of it.
