I used to be like that. A wife, mortgage and kids changed that though.

I don't have any of those things but still don't have much time to game, I guess a part of it is football all weekend and watching all those games, so can't complain about that. I am picking my "poison" LOL

Just to tack on to this thread ODogg, I'm in the same mindset. I have probably 10-20 unopened games that I bought brand new or after a sharp discount, no exaggeration. I look over at them all the time, but I keep buying more and never going back to those games. I bought Fallout 3 on launch, still haven't opened it, and now the GOTY edition is out with all of the DLC for example! I could've just waited since I haven't even played it. Fable 2 is the same way, loved the 1st, bought 2 at launch, never played it.

I am an incredibly impulsive videogame buyer, but I HAVE to stop and cut down.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

It's good to hear i'm not alone JohnDoe8865 - I'm embarrassed to admit I played Fallout 3 for about an hour and that is the last time I've played it. I did however play Fable 2 from start to finish and got my moneys worth out of that (in fact I played about 10-15 hours beyond finish) but that is a rarity. That game just really grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

I am also going to admit I have at least 5 games at my house that i've not even opened (although they are the cheap, best-buy games like Blitz II, Rock Revo, etc) and about 5 more that i've played for less than 3 hours.

I keep thinking I'll get some time over the holidays to get into them but then I usually always tell myself that and usually end up playing one particular title again and again and just short-shrift the others. I disgust myself honestly sometimes. I think a big part of it is growing up and never having they money to buy games and now that I do I go kind of crazy and over-extend myself..

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I am in the same boat ODogg. I have thought about this same topic over and over and over. I want to stop but it is hard when the "next big thing" is released. Just this past month I have bought so many titles I have not been able to get to them all and spend the time I would like with each of them. Then take the fact I play across three systems (PC, 360, PS3) and you can see how it takes a toll.

            For example.

Demon Souls - Decent amount of time but wish more
NHL 10 - Only played about 3 games so far
APF - Has been getting alot of play lately again
NBA LIVE 10 - Played this a ton (Still playing once a week)
Madden 10 - Played a ton (Still playing once a week)
Tekken 6 - Have put it in my system twice
MW 2 - Has hogged all my time
            L4D 2 - About to take MW2 spot lol
Dirt - Played it a ton
FNrd 4 - Quit playing till patch
UFC 2009 - Have not played in months

I could go on and on and on and on..................aggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Then I just bought Torch Light and L4D2 today. That is more time being used for more new titles.

I love the fact so many good titles come out now a days but it is getting to much to try and keep up with them.

Only good thing I have done so far is not bought Dragon Age yet, I am holding off because I will fall deep into that game and I want to wait so i can do that once the drought hits.

I think beating the game is what puts me at ease about not playing a title. I beat Batman, gears 1 & 2, etc and I don't think about popping them in. Batman sometimes, but I just enjoy the combat.

That right there was exactly me in my early 20's. We didn't have much money growin up so when I had my own money and lived on my own I bought new games when I wanted. I needed to make up. LOL

Well the good news in this context is that ACII is the last big release of the year.

Also, I'm finding that two sports games at once seems to be my limit. I'm trying to juggle MLB2K9, NCAA10, NHL10, and NBA2K10, and two of the four always go unplayed for weeks if I've been playing another two.

In fact, I'm thinking ONE sports game mixed with one or two non-sports games is probably ideal for me. But in any case, trying to juggle six or eight games at a time is for the birds.

Pick a game, maybe two, and play the crap out of it. That's what's fun. Juggling multiple games makes it feel a lot more like an addiction or burden .... at least for me.

I think you right bro. I need to stick with 2 to 4 games and limit it at that PER YEAR. I could play madden 10 all year, NBA live 10 all year, NHL 10 all year, then throw 2 non-sport games and that should be perfect for me. Now doing it is a whole other story lol

amen KILZPWN - it seems when you bounce around a lot you really get very little out of your experiences. that's why i enjoyed playign forza 3 for several hours, i can really get into the car upgrading and painting.

I only buy games that I know I'm going to play but I do have issues sometimes with playing older games rather than the new one's. I just started going through Mass Effect for the millionth time even though I love Borderlands and haven't finished it yet.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

Isn't it kind of strange how you just don't want to play a game as much if it's a year old? I mean it's the same exact game it was the day you bought it but yet if a game is "old" you view it as less worthwhile of even playing. I don't know how many times I've just about to go play a game and then I hear the new one is coming out and I say to myself, well i'll just get the new one, it's only xxx months away.

Just like Assassin's Creed, i got that used on Craigslist for a controller and only booted it once, then something came up and I didn't have time to play. Normally i'd just give it to my nephew and go by AC 2 but i'm not going to this time because i'm more aware of this nonsense now.

Yeah I agree man. And I know some folks say such and such is wasting your money but then I don't want to be one of those guys who saves all of his life every penny then gets hit by a bus and it all goes to his estranged family, LOL.
