    Re: Playstation Move

I just put a Move starter kit, extra Move controller and a Navi controller on layaway at Kmart.com (The easy way to keep the Misses in the dark for now), I'll pay on it every week (I'm in no hurry for it).
Boy this habit is as bad as dope!!!

World-wide shipped obviously, but this is still interesting.

      Press Release:

      PLAYSTATION®MOVE MOTION CONTROLLER SALES REACH

      OVER 4.1 MILLION UNITS WORLDWIDE

Remarkable Milestone Achieved in Just 2 Months since Its Release in September

Tokyo, November 30, 2010 - Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that the sales of PlayStation®Move motion controller for the PlayStation®3 (PS3®) computer entertainment system reached over 4.1 million units worldwide*1. The milestone was reached in just 2 months since its release in September for North America, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, and 1 month since the release in October for Japan. The number not only shows clear success of the launch of the new motion sensing controller but also indicates positive momentum going in to the holiday season and to the year 2011.

Wonder what they are calling "Units"? Each controller..each nav controller etc...

yeah they confused people at first by saying they sold that many at first, I guess it was trying to steal MS thunder with the Kinect.

Not sure why they shipped so many, as far as I'm hearing there isn't a high demand for the move right at this time, ;plus everywhere I go I see plenty of Bundled PS3 with move around.

It's crazy in my area, Move controllers are hard to come by. Kinect by itself is also hard to find, unless you get lucjy. 360 bundles with Kinect are easy to find and so are PS3 bundles with Move. Then I also see a lot of Move bundles with Camera/Sports Champs in stock. But the Move controllers themselves are hard to find. The Navi controller, they have tons of those since there is no need for those right now.

I read another report today that those Kinect numbers might also be shipped numbers and not sold. I have a feeling that both MS and Sony are literally playing games with these numbers.

Years ago both MSFT and Sony would say "shipped" with their consoles and games... they stopped doing that over the years due to a lot of backlash on the internet.

Now it seems they are doing it again. While shipped is still a "sale" in their pockets, it is not the same as "sold to the consumer". Just a gray area in marketing to make people notice and jump on the "everyone is doing" craze.

Not saying they both are not great products, it is just a play one words for the holiday season to create more buzz. And "keep up with the Jone's".

People look and see that 2-4 million are doing it, it must be good. Versus half that if it was actual sold numbers (dunno the exact just insinuating).

Been thinking of getting the move. I already have the eye so it wouldn't be too expensive. My wife also wants the eyepet thing. I'm selling my Wii and may get the move with the money from that.

                    Re: Playstation Move

Both companies are playing with the numbers.

Also remember one other thing with the Move numbers, those count each unit. So most people were buying 2 units (at least the kit and the nunchuck). Then if you wanted 2 Move controllers, that's now a "3rd" sale.

                    Just an FYI.

In the end, both are probably selling about where Sony and MS expected them to be. Both are pretty good hits, and both are going to give a broader audience to the systems.

Good point. Plus, if both Move and Kinect keep this generation of gaming going for another 3-4 years, then this is a good thing.

Exact same thing going on here. I see move bndles but I had to hit three stores to get an extra move controller. Finally found it a a walmart where they had 10 or so on the shelf.

I think it was this weekend where BB and Wal-mart's got restocked with more Move controllers.

Yeah, seeing how hard it was for developers moving from the PS2/XBX to the PS3/360 with development............I want this to last a few more years. I can't take another revamp of Madden again to accommodate new hardware.

Agreed with everyone here. While I would salivate over The Show for the PS4 with a system with oodles of more RAM (next consoles better be 4 GB of Ram MINIMUM), I am still content with my gaming PCs and the consoles at the moment.

They still pack plenty of punch, and a lot of game series are finally hitting their stride. And plus them being HD now, the legs are MUCH longer than previous generations.

I mean for goodness sake, there still isn't a game with texturing quality across the board as good as Uncharted 2 (PC or consoles), so I am excited to see what tricks they have for UC3 and the rumored "sand" theme.

I will definitely be picking up a Move setup after the holidays as well. And I think Sony and MSFT both know the gaming public and economy is just not ready yet for a new system, thus the addition of these peripherals to give them more legs.
