    Re: PSVITA Handheld Information

I think this thing is gonna have a hell of a hard time selling with the rise of quality gaming on smartphones. For many people, their iPhone or android device is more than sufficient for gaming. Only the hardcore gamers are likely to buy this device.

I bought the original PSP on launch day, but haven't used it in years. The PSP vita is interesting and the price is right but I doubt i'll buy one. Maybe if they come out with a version of NBA 2k that is very close to the console versions.

      Re: PSVITA Handheld Information

Consider me intrigued. If the Vita can actually deliver console quality games, then I will be VERY happy. I have been a PSP owner since the original launch. With the exception of a handful of games, however, the lineup has been shallow. Especially the sports games...

Being the sucker that I am, I plan on preordering the PSVita. Before doing so, however, has anyone done an analysis on the best place to preorder?

Any way to guarantee that I will have it in hand on launch day? Anyone offering bundles yet with preorders? I recall the original PSP coming with a Spiderman UMD. Does anyone know if Gamestop is offering anything over BestBuy? Better to order from Sony directly?

Just curious if this discussion has already occurred.

I will get this if they have legit versions of sports games with the same features as their console counterparts. Other than that, I could pass easily.

Some sites are starting to show a November 4, 2011 release date for the VITA.

That would make a lot of sense. Releasing after Christmas would be a big mistake as you would concede a big holiday season to the 3DS.

I don't understand why someone in their right mind would want to buy that thing. You don't need a video gaming device with you at all times. It's also enormous.

Much better than the rumor i'd read before they started calling it Vita that it might only make it out in Japan this fall because of the quake/tsunami.

For people who have a long commute to work everyday by bus or train this type of thing can be quite nice. I spend 40 minutes on a bus every morning to get to work and another 40 to come back home at the end of the day. I haven't owned a handheld in over 10 years but if this can deliver a couple of good sports games that are near console quality I might be tempted.

I'd think Kindles, IPads and powerful smartphones would be dominating this crowd. PSP sales have been so bad for so long and so far behind the DS it will be interesting to see how this does.

It may not be the DS but selling 70million PSP's is nothing to sneeze at..

I'm sure that's true. I was merely stating why someone might be interested in this, not trying to say that it would sell like hotcakes with people who commute.

I'm buying one for when I go on plane trips, go to a C school or when I'm on a boat for 2 years.
