Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
What games do you have?
Here's some games you may enjoy:
Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward
Persona 4 Golden (have not played this but have heard great things)
Soul Sacrifice
Dragon's Crown
Retro City Rampage
Ragnarok Odyssey (same as P4G, have not played)
Little Big Planet
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Limbo
Guacamelee! What games have you tried on the system that have already been released?
Here's a list of upcoming titles with broad appeal or whatever. Try looking some of these games up.
Action/Adventure/Fighting
Toukiden is a big hunting action game set in feudal Japan. It's Monster Hunter-y and the Japanese just went nuts for it. It's coming out "Q4 2013" according to Koei. DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a visual novel adventure game that crosses Phoenix Wright with Virtue's Last Reward and throws in Persona style S-Links. The first game is coming "early 2014", the sequel's life depends on how well it sells. Borderlands 2 is coming early 2014. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z might be fun if the idea of 4 on 4 DBZ Tenkaichi fighting sounds exciting to you. There's a trailer for it on YouTube. It's indie as hell, but I just can't pass on telling people about Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut, a 2D pixellated side-scrolling survival horror which is scary as ****. Killzone: Mercenary is coming out in a couple of weeks and the beta is out now for PS+ members. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number should be a lot of fun and is a must buy if you liked the first game. The colors really pop on the Vita's OLED screen and the game is much better on the handheld than the PC, imo. It's coming out sometime next year.
Some really hot Japan-only (until confirmed localized) titles include God Eater 2, J-Stars Victory VS, and Gundam Breaker. J-Stars is going to be THE import for 2013.
Platforming / Puzzle
Minecraft and Terraria are both coming out sooner or later. I don't think I have to describe Minecraft these days but Terraria is sort of like a 2D platformer version of it with more structure and linearity. Minecraft is ???? and Terraria is supposedly coming sometime this year. Spelunky comes out tomorrow, and Fez is coming along sometime sooner or later. I've also heard some good things about 1001 Spikes, which should do well until Nicalis decides to spit La Mulana at us (please hurry Nicalis). Rayman Legends is coming out September 3rd, and based off the first game (Rayman Origins), I cannot recommend it enough if you have any interest in 2d platformers. I'm not a big fan of platformers and still enjoyed Rayman Origins. Tearaway comes out in November and looks pretty good and might be one of the more interesting and unique exclusives coming out soon.
RPG
Ys: Memories of Celceta is supposedly a pretty fun action RPG from the long running Ys franchise that people keep telling me is good. It drops in November. Demon Gaze is a fairly well received 1st person dungeon crawler that's dropping early 2014. And I can't really go without talking about Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster which probably needs no introduction. There are a bunch of weird low hype RPGs coming soon but I have no idea how they'll fare, but you can't go wrong with next year's The Binding of Issac: Rebirth
Japan's getting Disgaea 4 Return sometime next year and we're certain to get it over here.
Three titles really seem up my ally:
Zero Escape
Lone Survivor
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
I was actually planning on buying Lone Survivor today...until I realized it's not out yet.
Now, for Zero Escape. It sounds awesome. But...is it worth $35 AND is it worth $35 for someone that HASN'T played 999? I don't own a DS.
Lastly, can anyone recommend any other Adventure/Horror/Point and Click/Graphic Novel games? These are the genres I'm specifically looking for on the handheld (other than artistic games like Journey or the Unfinished Swan. I like games like these too).
The Cat Lady would have been perfect on the Vita. What an incredible game. Is there anything like that out there?Comment

I think the Walking Dead Season 1 pack is on Vita, which would fit into that mold if you haven't played it yet. Otherwise, I can't think of a ton of good games that fit what you're looking for there.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). For P&C adventures, also wanted to make mention of DanganRonpa too, it's getting an enhanced edition on Vita in early 2014 (probably in the same style as Zero Escape). There is already a PSP version, but it's not officially translated.
For something more on the horror side there's Corpse Party: Blood Covered (and Book of Shadows which is kind of a sequel...it's a long story), but I would warn that it gets quite lewd at times. Not like nudity, but let's just say XSEED takes some liberties with the translation. Blood Covered is more of an RPG-maker type game where your characters are sprites, but Book of Shadows is much more of a P&C adventure. Both have numerous bad endings (called "wrong ends" in the series) which involve your characters getting murdered in the most horrific ways possible. Even the "true" endings to the chapters aren't necessarily "good", but I'd be spoiling if I said any more.
Both are PSP games, but both are playable on the Vita as well.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
PSP games are great on the Vita.
Dracula X Chronicles
Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins
Metal Slug Anthology
Three 2D classics, right there.
I just wish PSN Metal Slug saved my high scores. They always erase when I shut the game off.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Just an FYI, but the new Rayman on Vita doesn't have all the content the other consoles have.
Hopefully when Ubisoft comments they'll have something positive to add.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Been waiting for any kind of news on this for a long time....it's PSP, granted, but I imagine it would be playable on Vita as well:

DO. WANT. Trails in the Sky was probably my favorite game of 2011, and that's not an exaggeration. More than Skyrim, and more than Portal 2.Comment
