I'm still trying to get ONE star on the Lightning Cup. I usually get ripped apart by all 11 CPU components on the Piranha Plant level.

LOL, my Son swears it's rigged everytime something happens right before the finish line costing him a 1st place win. I can hold my own on 100cc but the moment I jump to 150cc it's almost a moral victory just to finish in the top 5 as I believe I've only taken 1st place 2-3 times so far and I've played it a lot.

Do you guys know if Best Buy sells Nintendo Store gift cards for purchasing games to download to your Wii U? The reason I ask is because I recently bought a TV from Best Buy and they issued me a few $100 reward certificates that you can't redeem for less than its value. So I wanted to buy some PSN and Nintendo cards to use later when games I want come out.

The item spam is worse in Mario Kart 8 than any in any other MK game because there are so many offensive weapons in play at once. Only 5 of the 21 weapons cannot be used to attack someone. Less items, not more items, is really what the series needs at this point to restore the balance between racing and all-out weapon assault.

The gold kart is totally not worth the trouble, since it has the exact same stats as any of the other super fast karts that are already in the game.

Less items, not more items, is really what the series needs at this point to restore the balance between racing and all-out weapon assault.

Yep, I wish Nintendo had just left coins out of the game altogether. It stinks constantly receiving coins from an item box when you're in the front of the pack. And making the coins a means of drastically affecting your kart's top speed is a bad gameplay mechanic IMO. Especially when they are placed in such random, out-of-the-way places along the tracks. And even more so when you are constantly losing coins from weapon attacks that you have no way of defending.

I'm less than blown away by Mario Kart. I love Super Mario Bros U, but I just can't get into Mario Kart as much. It's probably because I'm using a WiiMote to control it. Are you all using the Pro Controller, or what are you using?

Same, MK8 just seems the same. Even the new anti-gravity is essentially the same as regular (plus boosts). After so many iterations, where's the evolution, the stat tracking, a racing mode even that has some depth?

It's a good fun title but I'm in no way pining to play it. Skilled driving is less rewarding also with so many items.
