Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning
EDIT: Actually, check that. I'm still having a problem, but now it's on Valve's end (or somehow on mine). As I'm going through the linking process I'm having trouble bypassing the CAPTCHA system. I've tried a dozen different times, case-sensitive and not, with and without spacing, etc. Every time, it says: "Please verify your humanity by re-entering the characters below." While I cracked up at the line the first time I read it, now it's just getting frustrating. I've restarted my computer, cleared my cookies, girded my loins, and I can't seem to get around this message. Hmm...Last edited by Blzer; 05-20-2011, 12:48 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning
Question about the free games, may have been answered already. We have 2 PS3's at home and my master account is on both. Would I be able to also d/l them on the kids PS3 since Sony allows the 5 system activation on everything else?Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning
Yes you should, as long as you have the same PSN profile on your second PS3. Just go to download management, and download them to your second PS3. I have two as well, and I DL stuff to my second one that I bought with my main one.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning
But I can't say for sure whether FIFA has a free trial like the other EA games, so unless someone else can confirm that you're rolling the dice.Last edited by bcruise; 05-20-2011, 05:01 PM. Reason: obvious edit: added store to clarify what I was talking about.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning
Sony estimates the PSN breach cost them $171 million.
Source
In the lead-up to its fiscal year 2010 earnings report this Thursday, Sony today released a revised forecast -- forewarning a $3.2 billion loss (yowzah!) -- for the twelve months ending March 31, 2011. Having occurred in late April, the PlayStation Network attack and subsequent data theft and outage fall outside of that period, but the company nonetheless addressed "the impact" of the event during an investors call today, "since there have been so many media inquiries about this incident."
"As of today," said Sony, according to its call script, "our currently known associated costs for the fiscal year ending March 2012 are estimated to be approximately 14 billion yen on the consolidated operating income level." That's roughly $171 million -- a "reasonable assumption," says Sony -- that the company expects to spend throughout the current fiscal year on its "personal information theft protection program," in addition to "welcome back programs," customer support, network security "enhancements" and legal costs. Sony noted that revenue loss from the outage and recovery, which also spans its Qriocity and Sony Online Entertainment services, had been factored into the cost, as well.
"So far, we have not received any confirmed reports of customer identity theft issues, nor confirmed any misuse of credit cards from the cyber-attack," the company added. "Those are key variables, and if that changes, the costs could change."
And what about the class action suits? Sony qualifies them as "all at a preliminary stage, so we are not able to include the possible outcome of any of them in our results forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2012 at this moment."Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning
Not really PSN related, but we don't have a dedicated PSP thread so:
Hi everyone. A new PSP system software update, v6.39, will be released soon. With this update, users who need to change their PlayStation Network password will be guided through the process. Also, system software stability during use of some features will be improved.
And "soon" in this case apparently means now, as I just downloaded it (don't you wish they were that punctual all the time).
