Sort of PSN related, but more PSP - Remote Play earns its keep (or doesn't) for me tomorrow.

I went ahead and got the Season ticket thing (turns out with how often I rent EA Sports games it's actually a bargain to me), so I can download Madden tomorrow whenever it's posted. But there's a problem - I work in the evening, and wouldn't be able to START the download until I get back (typically around Midnight). My connection isn't painfully slow, but there's still no way I'd be playing before about 3 AM. I work Saturday too so there's no way I'm pulling an all-nighter, so in essence I'd be missing out on a pretty sizeable chunk of that early release time.

Enter my PSP, EVO smartphone, and Remote Play. I've been testing it out at home and even the phone's 3G hotspot is enough to get Remote Play up and running, barely. That means as long as it works I'll be able to access my PS3 from work via my PSP, and start the Madden download as soon as it appears! Everything on the Store works the same as it would if you were actually sitting at the console, I even tried starting one of my old downloads to see if it works.

Pretty cool stuff in theory - we'll see how it works tomorrow. I'm gonna do a test run tonight when I get to work.

Of course I'll also be watching the store like a hawk before I ever leave for work, which might make all this irrelevant if it's posted early.

Didn't work so well unfortunately - I underestimated just how pathetic the 3G reception is out there. One try caused the PS3 to error out, and once that happened it was game over until I got back to my console (just now).

Good news though - I looked a little closer at exactly when this thing is supposed to be available, and it's 5 PM Central - an hour before I have to leave for work.

I'm guessing that since PS3 doesn't have some kind of special app for the Season Ticket like 360 does, it's going to be done via a PS Store content push, which means I can just set it to download in the background before I head off to work tomorrow.

Hopefully Sony does their part and gets it up before I have to leave, because I'm really doubting I'll be able to pull off the remote play thing.

This week's update.

The second week of PlayStation Network PLAY is upon us with the release of The Baconing! This comical action RPG continues the story of Deathspank, this time with a sci-fi twist. Need to ask a big favor of the OS PS3 guys.....

I know a few of you guys have me on your friends list, so if you happen to see that I was online at any time starting from this past Monday to now and beyond, please let me know, either by posting here or sending me a PM. My PSN is xxBlueNGoldxx. If anyone wants to add me to check as well, that would be great.

Reason I ask is because I was held up on Sunday, just after midnight, and ended up getting my iPod and bag stolen. My bag just happened to have my PS3 inside because I have such awesome timing.

Anyways, apparently if these ****ers are online, I can track down their IP and in turn (hopefully) get my **** back.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling they already have been online with my account because I just went through my email that is attached to my PSN and I got an email yesterday from EA thanking me for playing the Madden 12 demo. I don't know if the email was sent out really late though because I did play the demo when I had my PS3, but that was when it first came out and I never was online when I played it.
