Re: New Microsoft console in development?

Re: New Microsoft console in development?

This will already be the longest console generation ever. Even releasing the next console in late 2013 would still allow the 360 to get some good support for another year or two. MS would actually love for the 360 to still be selling like the ps2 has for Sony.

Kinect will work with the next console as well. It's software upgradable, and can actually have double the resolution it does now, but the 360's usb controller limits it. So they'd get to show off better looking Kinect games with a new console as well.

Yep. The 360 is the last console that I will buy on day one. There's so much more value in waiting, that I rarely even buy games on day one, anymore. NBA2K and Madden are the only exceptions.

Im ready. A new console utilizing DX11 and all the new hardware would sick. I think its about the right time. Start the buzz for a year and then let her go.

On a side note, it has to be nerve racking for Sony, Nin, and MS. Massive loses if someone takes a huge lead with the next Gen.

I say I'll be content with my 360 but sometimes you see things that make you anxious to get the new console.

Well......what if they come out with an ARMA game only for consoles and it looked really good and was fully editable.

You surely would buy that console then right ?

By the time 2013 rolls around the age of the console will really show. You can already see it now with how good some PC games look compared to their console counterparts. Stuff like the Witcher and Battlefield have graphics on the PC that blow away 360/PS3.

Yup, I've stayed pretty consistent in saying that 2013/2014 would be about perfect. That's a good eight years that these things have been around, which is about double what we've had from previous generations. Could I go even a couple years beyond that? Of course, but I could definitely be ready by then.

And on a side note. Even though I play many different types of games, seeing how Madden has finally, IMO, started going forward...I'm even more excited to see what the next systems will be like with newer FB games.

I'm soooo FPS's burned out that I'm also hoping for some real surprises next gen with different areas of gaming.

Madden is Exhibit A as to why you do not buy a console on day 1...or even year 1. Madden is just now getting back to where it was 5 years ago, and that lag was a direct result of a new engine and game for the 360/PS3.

I'd like to think they learned from their experience, but let's face it, there's only so much you can do in 12 months, and we still don't have features that were present 5 years ago. With a new game engine comes new gameplay glitches and dropped features because resources are spent in the art department to make the game look "next generation."

I'm definitely waiting, especially since the next generation of consoles are sure to want $500 opening day, and frankly, I don't think they're worth it; especially when you are paying $60 for software and $5 a month in on-line access...not to mention the $$$ developers will milk out of their title with "downloadable content," i.e. "content we could have included for your $60, but we can nickle and dime you for some more." Opening day you're looking at a mortgage payment just to play something that was probably rushed out the door to meet opening day.

Besides, while I'm extremely happy with my 360, I'm no fanboy for Microsoft, so I will want to make an educated decision on the next generation based on library of games, cost, graphics, etc.
