Have there been any hardware changes since release?

I currently have a refurbished X1 from 2014. Just got a brand new X1 with GoW on the box. Any difference? I know on my refurbished one I have to play tug of war with Blu rays.

Elite console is a HW update, but otherwise I think they're all similar.

The Genesis, yes. However the 32X and Sega CD were failures.

Most add ons are. History has shown this.

Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sony Move, PSTV, the Kinect and the N64 expansion pack were all failures in some way. Same will go for Sony VR. Same will go for this if they try to pull it off.

We are at a way different point tech wise than we were when any of those were released. No way to tell if this is going to be a failure right now. We don't even have any details. Just a bunch of speculation.

            Re: Xbox One

Dreamcast was awesome. It was the horrible Saturn launch that killed Sega. That was a cluster****. Genesis was excellent but I loved and preferred Super Nintendo. Sega CD (aside from a few games) sucked and 32X completely sucked. All add-ons / peripherals fail, bomb and suck.

As for Xbox One, instead of releasing an "upgraded" version, they should just go straight to Xbox 4 in my opinion but just have to wait and see what happens.

There's a big difference between making a whole game and porting one over to PC.

                Re: Xbox One

I've been hearing about the death of consoles for years and it's never happened. And if we wanted to be doing incremental upgrades all the time we wouldn't have bought consoles. This is not just speculation but wishful thinking on Micrisofts part.

As for the end of console gaming by Sony? The numbers indicate quite the opposite. The only possible end to console gaming is by Nintendo whose numbers aren't there, but otherwise this is just a bunch of wild, stupid speculation that will never happen...

Same here, I'm hoping they move it to the community tab though.

Interesting approach, all the live action video in Quantum Break will be streamed rather than reducing quality to the point where they can fit 40 versions of it on the disc.

Remedy has confirmed to us that the live-action episodes that play following each act of the game will stream to your Xbox One or Windows 10 PC remotely when the game launches in April.

Because the live-action scenes adapt to your decisions, several variations of the same episode were filmed. "We have 40 different variations of the show in total where basically your choices get to make it evolve and change whether it’s from a junction choice or we have these things called 'Quantum Ripples' which essentially unlocked sort of deleted scenes from the show," narrative designer Greg Louden says. "Then combined with that, the show length can change based on your decisions because some episodes are longer as a result and some episodes are shorter. It basically evolves and that’s why we needed to stream it."

Streams @ 1080p on Xbox One, and up to 4k on PC.

                        Well, count me out.

Edit: the option to download them is there. So maybe count me back in depending on how gimmicky it is. I expect it will be too much so.

I'm a little wary of it becoming the Xbox One version of The Order - play once, no need or desire to play again. Only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the pre-order (I like the cross-buy bit).

Interested in more details of how replayable it really is as it gets closer to launch.

I get that....my point is more that if something makes a game company money then they'll do it...

Separately I wonder how profitable The Show is for Sony, but it's a great niche system seller...

I enjoy waiting for stuff now anyways, but this one needs a review for me. It looks fun, but want to hear that the story and gameplay all actually came together or not.

I think Microsoft having an add on to the xbox one is a bad idea. It hasn't really worked for anyone else before. The xbox one is selling at a higher rate compared to the 360. What I think their focus should be for their next console is gaming first and multimedia 2nd. They've made many changes because of much of the outcry that happened since the console launched.
