Re: Xbox One
If its not your thing, its not your thing.
Achievements and trophies aren't "stupid".
If you win championships in a game you have a trophy case to display and reflect on what you accomplished. Its really no different with actual achievements and trophies. Its a cool way to reflect on your gaming history and compare it with others.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Might as well agree to disagree.
Trophies help some assure themselves they got the most out of their $60 purchase.
I beat Sleeping Dogs, cool. I still want to get the collectible items and explore the game more.
We all want something different out of our games.
Trying to get achievements and collectibles doesn't relate to having a social life unless its in regards to not having free time to do it.
Your opinion is that its stupid.. Doesn't make it true for everyone.
I live an extremely busy life.
I still try to get the trophies in my PS3 games. I may not get to beat as many games, but that's okay with me.
I don't look at the OS Trophy Standings and say, "Damn Kev is blowing me out. He's such a cooler person than me". I do it for myself and its my way to game. I don't do it to look like a bad ***.. I'm not a little kid.Last edited by AUChase; 05-31-2013, 03:16 PM.Comment

However, as someone who enjoys milking the most out of my sparse game purchases, I've come to appreciate achievements. For instance, after beating Bioshock Infinite, I found myself not wanting to be completely done with the game, but not really wanting to just do the same exact thing over again. The achievements provided some extra incentive to continue playing and exploring. Sometimes they provide more enjoyment (Bioshock's achievement for killing a certain amount with a particular weapon) and sometimes they're just tedious and not worth it to me (GTA IV's pigeons).
Basically, when my normal game goals are accomplished and I'm not ready to be finished, I like having achievements there. I don't exactly plow through games so again, I tend to try to milk everything out of them I can.Comment

Re: Xbox One
For me, I like achievements, but I don't let them control what I do in a game. I'm not going to complain about them, but at the same time, they don't normally control how I play a game. I never look at them before playing, yet I have the second highest gamerscore on my friends list at over 40,000. They're fun, but really, I don't think people should ever blame them for not enjoying their games. That's just a lack of self-control or a perfectionist attitude at fault.
Also, I love reading these every year:

Re: Xbox One
I might care more about achievements if they went towards something. Like 100% completion = 50% off DLC etc...Joshua:

I'll be chugging along in a Far Cry game and all of the sudden I will get an achievement pop-up with some clever name telling me I just scored my 100th headshot kill and all I can think is, "Who cares? I am not keeping track of stuff like that and now you just took me out of the immersion of the game."NCAA: Michigan Wolverines

Re: Xbox One
i stopped caring about achievements early on when games like ghost recon had an achievement for being ranked #1 in the world on the online leaderboards. That is not even fair. Plus people just downloading saves online and loading them up for 100% completion.Comment
