Re: Xbox One
Im getting the xbox one because I love xbox live & I could careless about the Ps4 exclusives (besides God of War, love that game) xbox & ps4 will have 90+ % of same games so all of the new X1 TV features, etc I look at as a bonus to being a gamer. Always online/kinect spy doesnt bother me at all. Hey if MS wants to watch me turn on the xbox when im naked fresh out the shower then hey doesnt bother me.
Only thing I dont like is the used game situation. I dont borrow games or lend mind out but I do trade in some games (like Mw3,lol) & pick up games I used to have or some games I didnt play when they 1st were released.
One positive to me is that I have to TVs in my gaming area, 1 to game on & 1 to watch my sports on & often do both at same time. With the new xbox I could save a little $ on electric bill by just using the xbox because of the ability to swap between the 2 or even do both at same time.
Also I love the HDMI in & out ports because I could use my xbox & connect it to my pc to use as a game capture recorder, (PS4 also can record as you know)
So im all in for the next xbox, I would like to see more games though & E3 is around the corner
I also probably get a PS4 down the road for God of War, but xbox will be at launch for meComment

Re: Xbox One
When they say the box wont work without Kinect do they mean the TV stuff wont work? Maybe semantics and conflicting reps are getting the best of them right now.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Surprised there aren't Lifehacker blogs already about Kinect covers being made from things like Kleenex boxes using speculated dimensions.Comment

Re: Xbox One
3D view of the box, a couple of things I didn't notice from hardware previews:
- USB port on the side is nice, keeping the front of the monolith clean (unless there's some fold out like most VCRs and DVD players have)
- Kinda knew it already but it reinforces it when you look at the system like this... Kinect is huge, and has more ventilation than I expected.
People that own both consoles are going to have some borg-like TVs between this and the Eye.Comment

I remember someone in here jokingly (I think) talking about achievements for watching TV on the XBO. Well, apparently they were given the all clear for TV achievements today lol.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Anyways, THANKS for the link, definitively loved the 3d image ! ... it even made look prettier than when I 1st saw the console.Comment

Re: Xbox One
In Microsoft's mind, even the simple act of watching television could be considered an "achievement."
The company has applied for a patent that would reward TV viewers with achievement points, similar to the ones that are earned by playing Xbox games. The patent application was first spotted by Games Industry International.
"To increase interactive viewing and encourage a user to watch one or more particular items of video content, awards and achievements may be tied to those items of video content," the application says. For instance, users could earn rewards for watching a particular event, such as the Super Bowl, or "performing a specific action" while watching a video.
Rewards wouldn't just be limited to points. Viewers could also earn clothing for their digital avatars, coupons or even actual products, the patent application says.
Although the patent doesn't mention any Xbox hardware by name, the associated drawings (as seen above) clearly show an Xbox-like console with a Kinect sensor perched above the television. Given Microsoft's emphasis on TV in the upcoming Xbox One, it's not crazy to think that achievements could be coming to video on the new console.
...
This kind of manipulation could extend to gaming as well. Microsoft has already confirmed that the Xbox One will support cross-game achievements, so players may not be able to earn all available points on one game unless they buy another related game.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I know there are some hardcore gamerscore/achievement/trophy hunting guys here and while I try to "get the most" out of my game I don't consider myself a completionist at all. With that said, the last paragraph in that quote is bananas.

May seem silly, but people already do things for achievements while watching TV, GetGlue and Viggle have millions of users.
An achievement to win the heisman and super bowl mvp with the same created player would be kinda neat too (if ncaa ever makes it to next gen)

Re: Xbox One
Achievements are cool & fun, im sure this could expand to things like fantasy sports, which I might get into this yr with the NFLComment

Re: Xbox One
I understand people like them, but I just don't see the benefit to me as a consumer. I realize I'm probably skating towards the minority as I see people "checking" into places and other ridiculous **** on facebook.
And people think participation awards are funny.
