    Re: Xbox One

The day my Hooper DVR gives me achievement points (fake points) for watching TV, I think it time to cut our loses and give up as a society. **** is just getting ridiculous

I think its funny TBH, MS making it more likely those achievement hunters never leave the house

I'm most concerned with this line:
For instance, users could earn rewards for watching a particular event, such as the Super Bowl, or "performing a specific action" while watching a video.
What kind of video and specific action are we talking here?

            Morphin' Power Rangers. Obviously.

You are one generation away from never owning another disc again, I dont see the big deal at this point.

I have nothing against cross-game achievements myself. If someone is an achievement whore or completionist they will do anything for those points. If one 20g achievement is enough to sway you to buy a game or not, then thats on them.

TV achievements sound pretty silly though.

I can see if the games are connected such as games in a series (Mass Effect) or you can carry over characters/careers from one into the next (NCAA into Madden), but I'd be surprised if that's where they stopped it at. You know a logical connection and not simply because its the same publisher.

We've already gotten rewards if not achievements for sharing content before (NCAA uniforms I believe for sharing a demo, uploading a replay, etc?). Likely something similar.

Keep in mind with the TV features you could potentially have companion apps with polls and stuff as the show is running if you want (who will be voted off, who is your MVP, which team will win, who will score the final points, who will win the coin toss). We already have that with 'second screen' apps, but with how this is set up (the NFL example was just a taste) we could see the a lot more accessible options.

I thought I had some hope left for MS for E3, but after seeing all this lately, I am not sure anymore. I mean, touting a feature like watching TV that we all can do now? Unreal. I used to think these companies are all tied together as they each do something stupid to keep the other relevant. That theory is soon to be tested as Sony has not had a chance like this for a few years to just wipe the floor on MS. E3 cannot get here soon enough.

To be completely fair, the friend in your example can download a demo. If he's got an XBOX One (or whatever the hell it's called), then he's got an Internet connection and he can download a demo for pretty much any game he wants. So the whole borrowing a game to test it out isn't really a very good argument against it.

Count me out of the market for an Xbox after reading about how they're treating indie developers and getting rid of self-publishing.

They aren't getting rid of it. The XBox 360 never supported it to begin with.

To be completely fair, most demos don't show me ****. I've never purchased a game by playing the demo first and saying "Man, this seems like a pretty good game".

I need to see E3, but leaning towards PS4 at this current point, but not till 2014. Neither look like they are launch buys this year, too many great titles still hitting 360/PS3. Like Flawless a few pages back, I could easily see myself almost going WiiU this year, just for something different. Hell, if Nintendo could pull a few strings and get some of the bigger titles, I could just go that route.

In the end, I just want to play videogames. I don't care what else the thing does. Which is why PS4 is more appealing than XBox One right now.
Same here. While I don't want both... I probably will get both though...
XBOX because I prefer LIVE and PS4 due to a variety of game types(and The Show) other than FPS's
Really interested in seeing the new IP's for the future.

Right now I'm anxiously awaiting Animal Crossing and E3
