Re: Xbox One
If the game is good enough I'll run around for the extra collections to extend gameplay since I enjoy the game world and atmosphere (ie: Sleeping Dogs), but no way in hell am I hunting 200 pigeons in GTA.
I guess I'm more of a list-guy and could care less about the actual points.

Re: Xbox One
thats exactly how i feel about them as well.I'm 19, play online with my friends all the time, and couldn't give 2 ****s about gamerscore. It doesn't show who's better at the game, more who puts more time into it. It doesn't impress me that someone ran around Rome for 3 hours picking up 200 feathers in Assassin's Creed. Nor does it impress me that someone shot out all the TV's in some random mission in CoD. Most of the time, achievements aren't even normal things just for beating the game, it's all kinds of extra crap you have to do to extend the gameplay. If I can't do it naturally in my run through of the game, it doesn't matter to me.

Re: Xbox One
I think it would be way more enjoyable and entertaining if the console popped out these "trophies" when you completed a achievement. Now that is something I could get into achievement hunting

I think that gamer score and achievements gives the game a more immersive experience, and a dynamic where you can not only recollect your fun but have something to show for it.I will never understand the allure of achievements or your Gamerscore. Seriously. I couldn't care less if your Gamerscore is higher than mine. You could reset mine to zero and I wouldn't even notice or care. I guess that's because I am basically a single-player gamer only and an old fart (47).
For instance, playing a baseball game w/ no achievements may be fun and the game is great. However, playing a baseball game where you are still having the same amount of fun and then get 50 gamerpoints because you broke the single-season record in stolen bases is the next level IMO.
You can prestige to level 10 in any COD game, but the achievement of doing so is only recognized on their server where your gamer profile is loaded. To have done that is hours upon hours of gameplay, why not have a nice little achievement that is a badge of honor so to speak...
I don't care what others have as a gamerscore. I only care about my own gamerscore. So regardless of whose is higher or not doesn't really matter. I am however in a competition w/ my best friend on trying to outscore his gamerscore and that's another fun thing that can be had w/ the whole dynamic.
I am 31 ... I am "old" by gaming standards, so achievements and gamerscore is the next level of gaming IMO. Playing super mario 3 on nintendo was cool and all, but playing super mario 3 w/ achievements is better.
So if you have gamer "ADD", maybe you see achievements as a burden or something, or you just don't care at all, but for some its an immersive experience that brings out the best in gaming.

Re: Xbox One
The problem I have with achievements, is that it completely ruins the immersion of the game. Like I said, I wouldn't have a problem if they were things I naturally would want to do. But if I'm immersed in Call of Duty and putting myself in the shoes of a soldier, wtf am I doing shooting out tv's in a station when I should be pushing forward and trying to win the war? And what good does the intel do if no actual intel comes from it, if it doesn't affect the story at all? I just don't see the point I guess.
I have a friend who spends like 80% of the time he plays his PS3 trying to plat every game that he gets. It gets to the point where he has to grind for so long that he starts to lose enjoyment in the game. That's the exact opposite of immersion to me.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
