I know I won't buy this DVR. I play my 360 more than my PS3 right now as well, but I play the better system. I'm not going to try convince myself that a DVR with less power is the better system. Indie game restrictions, used game fees, always on internet, paid online subscription (better online I know), less exclusives, more restrictions...compared to a question in how good the online service will be on the PS4? Come on...
Hell yea man I completely agree and I consider myself a Xbox fanboy. I could not stand my PS3 and loved my 360, but I'm not going to go blindly into something just on brand loyalty. I'm going to look at both products and currently Sony has my full attention and it is not from what they are doing but entirely what MS is doing to push me away.

Yes of course getting back to gaming should be priority number 1 after a third of a city has been wiped out. We can make all kinds of wild assumptions and come up with literally millions of excuses and examples of something that "could" affect internet connection for about .0000001% of the population.

The hyperbole in this thread is staggering.

If you dont like the system ( either one ), dont buy it.

No one cares if /random OS poster #133211 buys a system or not.

Majority of the USA has broadband, HDTVs have a much larger installed base, the entire world runs off of the internet, they are in the process of getting all of the used games revenue they have been missing out on..etc...etc.

Gaming and any other new technology breakthroughs dont need to wait on the lowest common denominater to improve. Guess we should all be running around with sticks and trying to kill our own food since there are people in Africa that havent made it to the modern age yet and its not fair we can go to the grocery store and they cant.

You either adapt or get left behind, its up to you decide what to do and you have that choice with your wallet.

Either way, I'm not a conspiracy guy or fear-of-government-getting-my-information person, but I admit the prospect of a camera always being latently on and reading me is a little creepier than a phone trail. But again, if it's more the laptop computer webcam route, that's a little better, though I'm still not necessarily a fan.
They said that there are privacy settings to keep stuff off but apparently, you have to have it connected. I think it's probably similar to any laptop camera.

Has no one else noticed with all of the information we've gotten on the X1, how little we have on the PS4? All the stuff people are crucifying Microsoft for has been neither confirmed nor denied by Sony. I personally hope they do all the same stuff, and all of these people eat ****. The anti-Microsoft circlejerk is getting ridiculous.

              Re: Xbox One

So after a pretty decent amount of thought, I think that Microsoft has kind of lost me as an automatic buyer for their new console. Sure, I will probably get it at some point. But not until a significant price drop (unless the console releases cheap) and some of these weird little regulations they have get put to rest.

What I'm really anxious to see is Sony's response to this. If Sony fails to have some kind of utility plug in as being mandatory, allows used games, doesn't require an internet connection, etc. they are really going to win over gamers.

It is a little bit baffling that Microsoft would go to such lengths to limit the user when their motto seems to be that they are doing otherwise. Especially when they had so much information present on how the consumer was not interested in these kinds of things. Oh well, as long as there is one console that continues to be true to gamers, I really don't care. Going to be really interesting at E3.

In theory, depending on HDMI DRM restrictions. They mentioned you can record your footage on the machine itself and edit and share it.

I know...Sony will fall in line with whatever used game methods are used...

It's not like they showed us tons of games or features. We haven't even seen the system.

I wonder how that would work considering how large files that like that can get. Especially with only a 500GB hard drive.

Call me odd but what bothers most about this "need internet" aspect is our troops overseas love to play Xbox games and they usually don't have internet.

I personally always have internet in some fashion but it does bother me that the people who are risking their lives for this country can't play a video game because of this silly requirement.

And it bothers me even more I don't see anyone else really bringing this up at all in most of the coverage I've seen..

I'm thinking we're all getting excited about this feature and it'll be hobbled in some dramatic way that will ruin it.

THE PERCEPTION NOW: As a commish of an NCAA league I"m thinking "hey cool, people can record their games in my league which take about an hour and we can scout each other and have the games online..."

REALITY: Error message "The file you are trying to save is too large, the maximum save is 5 minutes long, please edit your file to be 5 minutes or less and re-save the file"

Maybe I'm just highly cynical of great new features like this but this is what I'm betting on will happen once we actually get the system...

That is an oustanding point, ODogg. A pretty big oversight and design flaw by Microsoft. I don't get why they want to alienate a portion of its user base by forcing the Internet connection on everyone.
