With my regular Xbox One (1TB Forza Console) instant on never worked correctly. After turning the console off and on a couple times I would always have to do a full shut down and restart to get the console running correctly. With my Xbox One X Instant on works perfectly. I've never tried the app.

I’ve got a One S. What I can do with the PS4 in rest mode is, for example, buy a game while at work and have it install on my PS4 instantly so it’s ready when I get off. Not to mention just keep the system and games updated in the background.

It's supposed to work that way for the Xbox One as well but in my experience it's very hit or miss. Not sure why exactly. I've had games that installed within minutes and then other times where it never did and my settings have never changed so who knows.

I ran into the same issue, in my case it had to do with the settings on my external. I had to ensure the "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" setting was NOT enabled.

I don’t have an external connected to my One though so that’s not my issue. I do have it set to keep the storage on if memory serves.

                  Re: Xbox One

Guys, about to take the upgrade path from my One S to the X. Question...

I see if I use my external HDD i can easily move my games and other stuff seamlessly to the X, great!

Being also a PS4 Pro guy, when I upgraded from the regular PS4 to the Pro I had to make sure I deselected my old Ps4 as the primary console (otherwise you can't get your profile on to the new system). Is there a similar little trick like that I should worry about before switching to my new X?

                  Thanks!

Just factory reset your OneS when you are done doing everything you need to do and you should be good.

Thank you kindly. Unboxing my X right now....I'll reset the One S first.

Snagged that deal on ebay. Got the One X with Ghost Recon, and PUBG, for $459, free shipping and no tax.

                          Hopefully will be here Tuesday.

                            Initial report is...very good!

Power came back on at 10:30 last night, and while the rest of the house slept I gamed and geeked until 2am lol.

I did go ahead and see the personal wisdom in EA Access for me (I buy at least two EA games a year so it pays for itself quickly with the discounts). I love The Vault! So many games at my disposal...I got Titanfall 2 and Madden 18 for free.

Madden 18 I have playing for months on my PS4 Pro and I was quite surprised how much improvement I saw on this game on the X last night. SO smooth and even a bit exta-dimensional it it's depth. Makes the whole experience very nice. Can't wait for M19!

Gears of War 4 at 106G???? Good lord...but it does look sweet!

I feel like even HydroThunder Hurricane was smoother here with a bit more color pop than on my One S. Daytonaaaaaaaah nearly made my head explode with it's vibrant, arcade pop.

Forza 7...I do see a difference here. It seems just that much smoother and richer, but it hardly curb stomps what I was getting from the One S. It's still an improvement, for me, in color and smoothness, and I can notice some added details.

In committing to the One X, I'm committing to it for all of my multi-platform games going forward (and even one or two in retro lol). My main goal was to have the best system for my two biggest time sinks each year, which are Madden and F1, and this system will deliver the best possible versions of those games both now and for the upcoming games in August and I am ready.

The Pro isn't going anywhere. For me, I prefer Sony's exclusives to MS so still need it for Spiderman, God of War, The Show, etc...but the One X is going to shoulder a much bigger play-time from me than the One S ever did. Also for the fact of it being my main movie machine, too.

The balance of system use prior to the X? 70% to 30%, PS4 over One S. I would expect for immediate times, 50/50, and going forward after August when my annual games come in, PS 40%, MS 60%.

Great stuff so far. Love it. Set up was an absolute breeze and getting my games back on there was a snap.

                            My knocks?

Really, it's with the interface. I thought the 360, especially in it's early to mid-years, had THE best 'gaming' dashboard/interface; especially with the great avatar system and the desktop themes. What happened??

For the most part you don't really get to see much of the clever avatars anymore, and the dashboard has a clinical disposition to it that pales compared to what you can do on the PS4 dashboard. This last bit in particular for dynamic themes with sound/music and motion.

I just find that an odd shortcoming (though minor!), as MS used to be the 'fun' interface and PS used to have the boring, dry one (at least for awhile).

Otherwise, MS has always had the superior controller, especially with the 360 controller going forward. The PS controllers have caught up nicely (thank God) and are a bit larger and more comfortable with a better stick spread, but the MS layout and heft still trumps for this guy with big hands.

Anyway, running on now, but thanks for reading. Love my One X!!! Very glad I was able to do this
