Most places wont let you even exchange a title from one system to the other, even it's unopened...take my advice, I learned the hard way....

looks like the Xbox music will have a free version for gold subscribers so you won't have to pay for the pass. You will get ads so I wonder the frequency of the ads but I could live with ads to by pass the subscription.

Walmart....tried 3 different ones to exchange Madden on Xbox with a receipt for Madden PS3 and all three said no because it's not the same game. Gamestop said they normally wouldn't do it but they exchanged it for me but I think it was more because I knew the manager and he did me a solid..

^^^^ I've never had an issue with exchanging a game as long as it's unopened and I have the receipt. That goes for any store.

That's strange. I'd normally be able to return the unopened Madden PS3 with receipt for store credit and then buy the X360 version with the store credit.

Do any store exchange them without a receipt?

Target does. They put the exchange on your license. You can only do up to 70 dollars for the year on your license.

Xbox One Cloud Updates May Force Mid-Game Reboot

Microsoft has announced the Xbox One will require cloud updates on a regular basis, which could lead to the system rebooting without warning.

That's according to Xbox Live lead program manager John Bruno, who made the revelation during a presentation at GDC Next yesterday (via IGameReponsibly). Bruno explained that while work has been done to try and prevent the system rebooting in the middle of a game, Microsoft hasn't managed to eliminate the issue entirely.

"Once in a while, rather frequently actually, the host OS will require an update, meaning the physical machine is going to get rebooted whether your code is running or not," he explained. "That’s a problematic thing for a game, and oftentimes it's in the middle of a multiplayer session. We’ve worked very hard to overcome that, but that’s not to say it’s going to be a reality in every case."

The team behind Titanfall has previously spoken about how dependent the game will be on the Xbox One's cloud capabilities. The implication here, therefore, is that whenever the servers need to be updated or rebooted, the game will be unavailable. When asked by IGameResponsibly about how Titanfall would navigate these issues, Bruno issued the following response:

"I can’t answer that. I don’t know what the guys over at Titanfall have built into their game. It’s up to the game developer. If they want to rely more on our XBLC service, we’re happy to support that. We do provide a platform for them to persist data, but that’s up to the developer to utilize that."

It's possible, then, that the cloud may have a weekly maintenance period to try and avoid issues, scheduled during a convenient time for most gamers, such as in the early hours of Wednesday morning like many MMOs. We've reached out to Microsoft to see if there are any such plans in the pipeline and ask what happens if an emergency maintenance is needed, and will update the story as soon as we hear back.

This is a reboot of the host server, not the console. Still kind of crappy because what will happen is "there was a server update and your server was restarted despite being in the middle of a game, all players in the game return to main menu". A good system would be for the host to be updated, wait for the current game to finish, then reboot before starting another session. Just like with multiplayer games on the PC.

The problem here seems to lie in the fact that if Titanfall (or any other online game) is pushing your game state over the cloud and requires both your local and remote state to be always synchronized, and if that remote state cannot be moved on another server transparently (due to latency and the fact that Microsoft did not plan for transparent redundancy of "game apps" instances) if the server is up then the session is killed as soon as one of the cloud servers must reboot.
