    Re: Xbox 720

It's a small thing, but can potentially grow to ruin this system if they don't get on this. It used to be that this kind of thing didn't matter, but to be the brunt of internet jokes these days could really hurt this system.

Just because people can connect to the internet doesn't mean they can connect their Xbox to the internet. My connection goes to my PC or my Xbox. Not both. I didn't buy Diablo III,I didn't buy SimCity and I didn't buy Rock Band: Blitz (which can still be played offline but doesn't save scores/progress/coins etc. without the constant connection). Even then I usually shut off the internet when playing on Steam so that "your friend is playing this!" message doesn't come up. That's only part of the issue anyway.

Also what would you like people to do besides complain on forums? It's not out yet so we can't not buy it yet.

Could always take an axe to your 360 I suppose...

If Microsoft had/has a good reason why the console needs to be connected all the time this wouldn't be a problem. But as far as I can tell there isnt one.

That doesn't even make any sense...they're forcing you to use internet to play their box, why? That's the issue people have.. you need internet to have xbl and do certain things on it now, so that's definitely not the problem.
I agree, I don't think it should have it. I guess my point is I kinda understand where people are coming from, but there are legit reasons why people may be offline nowadays still. It should still let you play a game without being online, I agree.

Microsoft needs to nip this in the butt now or at least schedule a conference soon.

I hope the rumors of an always on connection are not true, especially the rumor that the Kinect will have to be on at all times as well. You want me to keep an always on 3 Dimensional imaging and spacial sensor with listening capabilities on at all times in my home? No Thanks

If it is true that will be a 100% deal breaker for me. Instant PS4 buy after being a Microsoft customer for 6 years.

Sad part is. Most do not even realize what this all means in this day and age.

I work with databases and have seen the archives of data that is being collected, and how "useless" information can be transformed into huge detailed violations of your privacy. And all the actuary scientists and statisticians that are being hired to look at this data and make correlations that you & I would never think of.

Easiest way to get people to openly accept 24/7 surveillance, is to put it in devices people are hooked on and enjoy.

People need to think long and hard about this. Conversations are no longer "private".

I think it's because of ads.
When people ask why gold members see ads I always tell them because silver never have a reason to be online other than to dl or update something so they almost never see them. If everyone always has to be online then everyone will always see them. Of course the ammount of customers they should lose because of this undercuts the whole thing.

What are the statistics of gold versus silver? What are the statistics for the 360s that have been online versus those who never have put it on? I'm honestly not a fan of this always online just as I'm not a fan of having to pay for matchmaking on the XBOX. Majority of people are not going to be into the always on. Play station having the free multiplayer and used games being. Me to be played will win this war within the first year easily. First-party games are already less than stellar on the XBOX 360. Sony is definitely in it to win. Microsoft might even fall behind the Wii U pulling a move like this.
