I think it was the Killzone vid for the PS4 where there was chaos all around and a plant just sat there on a pillar, immovable. That bothered me, and while Killzone isn't as big of a title as COD etc., I really would like to see things like this addressed.
It's great that a room is populated with various things that give it a very "real" feel, but we are now at a time to where the plant doesn't need to look any better. It needs to properly respond to the environment.
In the beginning of this gen there was a lot of talk of, "from the ground up" with various titles. Madden used that lingo, and then they started talking about how they were now able to get down very specific details in stadiums etc. I remember reading those things and thinking.."No..that's not what is important." I really thought with the PS3 and 360 that we would see better physics in games. We have in some cases, DiCE and the Frostbyte engine is a good example.
But with this next-gen we don't need another graphics upgrade. We need something that is going to deliver in really producing some depth in gaming. More emotion, physics, better storylines, etc. would be great. That is really on the developers' side, and I hope that they take things to a higher standard, rather than making things look pretty.
