Re: Xbox 720
Their version of kinect isn't a webcam, its more along the lines of a Wii/psmove I thought.
Now if it is a webcam, and always has to be on I'm not getting a ps4 either. I don't need a camera for my console, just like I don't need an extra motion sensor for what my physical body does while I game.
Those are useless to me. Make everything but the video games optional and it'd be back to a will purchase for me. For all companies.Comment

Mestevo your comments tend to border the line of 720 fanboy. You come off as seeing only one side with most your posts. I'm just saying.Comment

Does this mean I am arguing with you too? What I don't get is my last 5+ posts don't even include any of my opinion, I answered a question and provided information (aside from quoting 23's silly post) but somehow I'm coming across as fanboy, arguing and headstrong?
How about we get back to talking about the console/rumors?Last edited by mestevo; 04-10-2013, 04:49 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I know I come off that in contrast to most of the posters in this thread that have been solidly in the PS4 camp as if the next Xbox has already RROD'd on them and slapped their mother because of rumors.

Honestly, I didn't have to say anything and you can continue to come off pushy that is all on you.
Now with that said, no I can't stand the things coming out the MS camp. I won't put on a smile and act like things are rainbows from what we are hearing. It was the system I planned to buy and by the rumors we are giving from "good" sources it is looking like MS is really screwing up.
I think if this information "leak" is to gauge public interest then opinions such as mine are good things and could possibly change the course of what appears as a disastrous console. Acting like it will be the golden console does no one any good. For instance all small towns that have no internet their residents will never be able to play a 720???? Yayyyyyy for that, Goooooooo Microsoft!!!Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I can't help but laugh at all the people who are legit "worried" about the kinect having to be plugged in. They are not going to use it to spy on you lol that is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen. Worst case scenario in my mind is they use it to catch audio "keywords", for example MS sets mountain dew, doritos, etc as these key words. If the kinect hears someone says doritos, then you may see more doritos ads on your dash etc. Does the consumer benefit from this? most likely no, but should you be worried and not purchase because of this? lol no.Comment

I just don't want a kinect, period. I have no use for it, I didn't buy one with the 360, I didn't replace a broken 360 with a new one because they came with kinect.
Its a gimmick that detracts from the quality of games, in my opinion (as do all the other extras on both systems but that's neither here nor there) and I refuse to support it.badComment

Re: Xbox 720
They've refocused on:
Xbox Mini: $150 disc-less Xbox 360 with media functionality
Durango: Unit competitive w/ PS4, no backward compatibility unless you get an Xbox Mini
Because the mini is an AppleTV competitor, naturally it has to be always on and always-connected to take advantage of that kind of market. Because dev kits had the capabilities of both of these units that's where the rumors came from of the entire unit requiring always-on/connected.
I appreciate the rest.
I'm a little more exuberant today than I have been previously because Google TV + Xbox is something I've wanted ever since using my underpowered Logitech Revue for the first time. This rumor isn't even new, it was mentioned but not really elaborated on months ago I believe. The capabilities and ease of use HDMI passthrough brings to the equation can't be really understood until you're using it.

I'm not sure if you've caught up on today's news, but this exact thing is what even vgleaks is backing off of.

I love our Kinect, we don't use it for gaming much if at all though, and when my babbling 21 month old calls a timeout or hikes the ball or brings up the call audible screen at the last moment forcing a delay of game I do wonder why we have it plugged in when it's used maybe a couple times a week at most.
I saw this was written today

Durango itself will also always be online like any other device (correct with rumors), but it will not be a requirement to play local content and it will not prevent playing used games.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
We do need to be careful in our opinions so that whether or not one particular system succeeds doesn't determine whether or not we enjoy the other system. I suppose we all want our opinions to be valuable, but there is balance in all of this.
It reminds me of something Steve Jobs once said, and I am no longer much of a fan of Apple, but I paraphrase:
"We need to get rid of the notion that in order for Apple to succeed, Microsoft needs to fail."
This is the problem of the fanboy. The fanboy needs the opposition to lose so in a way that is almost embarrassing. They want the opposition to be exposed, blamed and ridiculed. I don't see that hhappening here but it's good to keep things balanced in our talks about how and why the next Xbox will or will not rule the world.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I'm more concerned now with price and release games. That will go a long way on deciding a system when I grab one.
I prefer the XBOX over the PS3 but we'll see.
Worse case scenario I can cover the Kinect.
While I don't use the Kinect, my daughters do a lot.Joshua:

Re: Xbox 720
IF that VG leaks info is correct, I'm in. I'm pretty sure my cousin, who said he was getting out of the console market this gen, would be in too with the TV stuff. IF all of that is true, I'm definitely not on the fence as to which console I will be getting.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment
