    So is this up to the developer to make the decisions? Will or can voice, hand gestures and visual recognition be sacrificed? If so, which is it? Anyone have any ideas? Other sources?
    Yes, the devs will have the option to turn off body tracking, voice recognition, or both while the game is running. I'm hoping that most devs will leave voice recognition running, as I love being able to utilize it while gaming.

      The only time anything will be sacrificed is when you are playing the game.

      Is there anyone out there that actually uses hand gestures?

        No. Hand gestures feel worse somehow with Kinect 2. Maybe it's the lack of that window to give you and idea of what the camera sees.

          Yeah, not a fan of them. I'm good with this option...if a game isn't using visual kinect then that's cool. It sounds like the voice will be left in, so you can snap and stuff.

            Game Informer asked them at E3 and basically got this from Phil Harrison.

            Kotaku then ran a story after they interviewed Harrison at E3 and reported this;

            There was one mixed message, thanks to Phil Harrison, that has since been corrected by GI. What constitutes 'mixed messages all over the place' ?

                  You're telling me in the last year and a half there's been just this mixed message? OK

                  Sorry. I didn't get the memo that I can't question what they're doing.

                    Link to a Kotaku article on how it'll work. You just lose gesture based stuff (not a big loss IMO)...Pretty big win though with that percentage they get back.

                    Other devs will be able to patch this in if they want.

                      I still want an X1 but mainly due to having all the systems.
                      Whenever I feel it's worth it for me I'll jump. Probably late fall or 1st quarter of next year I'll know for sure if it's a go or not.

                          I was worried about that until this recent news...now it sounds like the perfect compromise for devs of huge games. I don't gesture during major games anyways (too much of a pain) and kinect based games can work around the minor limitation...

                            That's all I was looking for. Earlier, it sounded like they gave the Devs full autonomy on what they can eliminate which sounded crazy. Still, Microsoft needs to be giving straight-up information instead of this confusion.

                              I'm happy for more games like this. I'm glad Spencer is in charge. The system should get a diversity of games instead of 90% shooters.

                                The same goes for my PS4, but we are about to enter an intense drought of video games coming up. I'm really hoping that UFC and Valiant Hearts can keep me busy until Madden, Destiny, and FIFA come out in August/September. NCAA not being made this year really leaves a gap.

                                Guess it's a good time to save some money, anyway. October is going to be freaking brutal with everything that is coming out.
