    Re: Xbox One

Gamers actually listen to music while playing a game but it's not the game music? The only time I have ever done this was back in the SNES days playing Tetris 2 and listening to Fear Factory. With game music being usually damn good nowadays, im actually surprised that gamers do this but in fairness, I guess for puzzle and racing games, I can see it.

On a side note - can someone explain what DLNA is and what it does? Thanks.

As for Xbox One not selling, I think that it's going to outsell PS4 in November and December when they release a few different console bundles and Halo: MCC gets released.

Either way, this console war isn't even a year old and there's a long way to go.

Regardless, I think six or seven posts about the music might be enough for use to get the point. I'm sure it would be a wonderful feature for many people. But when you are the one guy beating the drum, while the rest of us admit we didn't even use it last gen, maybe bragging about how you have steered sounds a little lame. But good for you?

It seems silly to work so hard to crap on the console every time folks start to enjoy it more because of the updates. We all hope the updates keep coming.
As I said, I own two Xbox Ones so my loyalty to the system isn't at issue. In fact if more awareness on this issue reaches MS then it's a good thing, not a bad thing. This needs fixed. I never said PS4 was better than the X1, I love both, there are things both good and bad about both systems. I merely point out that it's technicallynpossible if PS4 can do it so there's no excuse for MS in that sense.

As for me "bragging about converting people" I think you missed my point, it was not to brag at all. My point is some of you folks, including yourself in this post, saying "oh well, it's just you that wants it" are wrong. None of us live in a vacuum in this day and age. One thing that annoys someone and affects their view can really spread to many others in their view as well.

One major failing of a console, to that individual, can spread like a virus to others in other words... And although this may not be a real issue to folks in this thread it's a very real issue that still needs fixed.

Yes you can, but the requirements are that it must be a USB 3.0 device and it must have at least 256GB of free space. There aren't too many inexpensive 256GB USB 3.0 flash drives out on the market, so your best bet is to use an external HDD. I use one of these for my game installs and saves:

          http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expans...=operasport-20

The one I have works quite well and I also like not having to need to plug in an extra electrical plug, but really any USB 3.0 HDD should work better than the internal HDD.

8+ player tower defense/RTS Voice Commander now available. This was a hackathon project (branded under Microsoft Garage).

For those not familiar with a hackathon... it's usually an event that lasts a couple of days where people with ideas set aside their regular work and get together and crank out a product or idea over a period of time (usually 2-3 days here at Zappos). Sometimes there will be a theme, and often good ideas will smolder and end up making it live through the usual development process or worked on in '20% time' (manufactured spare time during the work week to let you work on side projects or things that aren't priority).

It appears MS has put together a site tying these initiatives together called Microsoft Garage: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/garage/

The 8 player game can be found here: https://store.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox-On...c-f6edb332e40b

I guess up to 8 can hold a controller and participate (that's the max for the Xbox One anyways), while a number of others can use voice commands to help the 1-8 controller players.

Not sure if it's any good, but neat to see this kind of thing make it to the public.

Edit: Someone streaming it now, it looks like a voice controlled tower defense asteroids: http://www.twitch.tv/steverulez

Make your own Xbox One background (Preview Program)

Pretty cool...I thought backgrounds were going to be limited to Achievement pics, but I am probably getting my updates mixed up.

They also have a Photoshop template of the tiles to see what your background will look like before going through the steps of uploading it to your One.

Sounds like you need to uninstall the 'Media Player Preview' app, then install the 'Media Player' app to get it working.

This is a nice geometry wars like game that works really well with voice command. It's free so no complaints.

Next year. Was mentioned in an interview or something that the December update will be smaller and that screenshots functionality will be available next year.

Faster install times is always a welcomed addition. Hoping that comes to fruition.

Not really worried about install times, heck some games have hidden them really well with their intro experiences. Most will only have to do it once. My only concern is what I experienced last gen. I bought Resistance 3 late in the generation... 20+ minute install, then slow PSN made patching a nightmare, which then also had to install.. was well over an hour before I could play.

Haven't seen any hints of that this gen thus far. Even Halo's 20gb patch wouldn't take that long for me w/ Cox doubling their internet speeds every other week it seems.
