PS4 owner here.....coming close to pulling the trigger on one of these new deals for the xbone. To Kinect or not to Kinect??? Anyone? Keep in mind I'm primarily a sports gamer and will get my sports fix on the PS4 for the time being. What titles for the Xbone are going to really draw me in?

I would never tell someone to not get kinect. It's going to cost you more in the long run if you buy without it most likely so just get it right away.Comment

Thanks. I am aware of the price difference but am I really ever going to use it? Ahead of the purchase I have zero interest in using the Xbone as a media controller or watching TV with it (could change but I doubt it). I am more concerned about gaming with the Kinect....which it seems is not being supported very well at this point. Is that accurate?Comment

I've used kinect for little things in a lot of the games I've played. Tombraider, Forza, madden etc. I like it mostly for the none gaming stuff but I'm not into the dance games for the most part. Xbox fitness is cool though.
I just can't recommend getting the system without it it's not even the same console that way.Comment

I ended up selling the kinect for some extra trade in value at gamestop, really it's one of those things that you might end up needing, but if you don't have an outright need for it, you could always buy it later if you end up wanting it off eBay, a reseller or microsoft themselves.
I'd take a look at some of the features of the kinect and see if they appear beneficial to you and make a decision off that, for me it wasn't neccesary as I stopped using voice commands rather quickly when it wasn't able to pick up my voice (I did have it right by my sound bar, but that's the only place I could get it to sit comfortably on my stand, it's by no means insulting the device but given my situation it wasn't worthwhile.)
Some games do have some features that apply to it, The Evil Within will use ambient noise in your room to determine if your enemies hear you (optional). I think you can switch weapons with it in Tomb Raider, and Forza uses it for headtracking, but none of the features it provides are necessarily essential (in my opinion), so it just comes down to preference, if you can find a bundle at a similar or same price with as without than go for it, spring an extra $100? Eh.
On an unrelated note;
A lot of games are coming out in the upcoming month, supposedly that Gamestop credit card has some financing deals for Microsoft products (I'm going to try and confirm this tonight when I go to pick up Lords of the Fallen and Sunset Overdrive tonight so take it with a grain of salt), it could be a worthwhile piece of plastic as long as you pay it off monthly, that APR is terrible though.
I was a little worried about Sunset Overdrive but the positive reviews helped me relax about the purchase though, hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as the reviews indicate, I felt it was a real hit or miss title.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

It typically does, yes. I'm not sure how it schedules them though. The day the NHL patch came out I figured I'd go home after work at 6pm and fire up the updated version to play since the update came out earlier that day. Unfortunately it hadn't updated and I had to wait it out. Sometimes I've seen it be updated, sometimes it's not. It may be that it needs to go overnight in order to update. Maybe it's scheduled for midnight, I'm really not sure.
With respect to the Halo package and some other games, the problem is there is a title update waiting once you get home with the disc and pop it into the drive that I hvae to wait out on new titles. That's the part the drives me nuts.
Bottom line, I've seen it update on its own, for example the Madden patch my console did on its own, so yes, it works. I feel like it doesn't work until overnight though. I went a day or two during the Madden patch without playing, and as I said, it was updated when I tried to play, but with NHL I tried playing patch release day, and it wasn't updated as of yet.
