Simple as that, plugging into usb in the xbox and its ready to go?

Just have to format it. Takes like a minute.

No problems at all. I have a 4TB external hooked up to mine, no issues whatsoever loading/reading games etc. If you buy a good enough drive, it should even speed up your load/install times a bit if the speed of the external is quicker than that of the internal in the XB1.

I also have a 1TB hooked up for media playing capabilities because I'll use it to watch movies and listen to music I've DL'd elsewhere.

Don't worry about issues like that, they don't exist. It'll work just fine, and you can get externals for pretty cheap. Just make sure its USB 3.0.

Finally got my 2nd Xbox back and set up...took a while to re-download stuff (along with Evolve), but hopefully tonight I'll have time to give it a shot.

My internal Xbox one HDD basically has nothing on it. All my games and apps are on the external drive. By moving everything to my external HDD, my Xbox one Operating systems seems to be quicker.

IIRC, i think you can also take your external HDD and plug it into a friend's xbox one and , as long as you sign in as yourself, you can play your games on another person's Xbox one.

Probably a dumb question but how do you choose where your saves go? I'm looking at getting an external HDD but curious how it works, also any certain kind required?

I'm using the 500gb that came with the PS4. I put a 1 TB Hybrid in the PS4. And put the original in a 3.0 case.

Mine did this yesterday. I was watching tv and I heard my Xbox for the first time since I bought it. It made a weird noise, but after 5 minutes it went away. I think it was doing an update. I hope I'm right..
