It's tied to a code you get with the game when you buy it, so why not have a system where if that code is accessed on another console, you can authorize the profile trying to access it to be able to play. It would disable it on your console while they are in possession, but still have the first person as the primary owner of the game so they can reclaim their access code at any time which then disables it on the other console (which would also get rid of those "friends" who steal your games you lend them).

If they still wanted to make sure the devs got their share they want, they could possibly put a limit on the amount of time you could lend it to another profile before it automatically transfers back or charges them a small amount until it's returned.

Lastly, perhaps they could use this system to let you trade directly with other users. When you verify that code is going to be linked to the other user, perhaps it gives you a choice to lend or "gift" the code to them. At that point, it could just charge the buyer like $10 (the price of one of the current activation codes) after the game is gifted to them. Typically people who sell games charge a price that will be more than what they would get from Gamestop/Other used game sellers, but less than what Gamestop/Other used game sellers charge to buy used, so you'd still probably be able to get a good amount from these trades as a seller.

Just a thought I had. MS probably doesn't have this idea, but it could help from a PR standpoint for them somewhat at least. I'm sure there would still be a lot of people complaining, but at least this way you could feel more like you own the license at least.
I doubt a lending program will ever be in place, though it should IMHO. They are afraid of the possibility of exchange sites where you sign up and get access to others games without every paying. Heck, even on the Kindle we can't lend most books, and then when we do lend, we can only lend 1 at a time, and the book can only be lent one time 'ever'. It would be nice, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

So here is my question and apologize if this has been asked and answered. In my current home situation, I have 2 PS3s. One in my man cave one in the family room that my wife uses. When I bought Red Dead Redemption I played on my system and when I wasn't she would play on hers under her own PSN account. With the X1 is that no longer an option, unless I pay for the license twice ie $140?

I am in the same boat, two 360s. When I get a little bored playing Lego Batman 2 w/ my son I go down to the mancave to play something. So w/ the xboxone I will need to strategically plan which console I put the game in initially when if I end up having two consoles - IF I even buy this consumer pitfall of a console. It's just ridiculous, there's nothing consumer friendly about this at all. It serves nothing but MS and corporate interest and completely throws a wrench into the entertainment that we are use to.

JBH3, As long as you sign into your profile you can play the game on any system you want.

Does your son have his own profile? Or do you play using your profile?

Also for those freaking out about the Kinect and being a tool for Big Brother..

Henshaw: If you want privacy, we'll give you modes that ensure your privacy. And we actually have a little bit about this on the Web already. We will have something similar for the Kinect with Xbox One. The system is designed to have Kinect be an integral part of the experience. It's not the case where you'll be able to remove the camera altogether. But you'll be able to put the system in modes where you can be completely secure about the fact that the camera is off and can't see you.

This is the thing that I just do not understand. Is the 'living in the bubble effect' that powerful? With a project of this magnitude how do they not have a consistent coherent message? How do you get blindsided by common sense questions?
