Another item that has me real interested in the use of cloud based computing to supplant AI. This was demonstrated in Forza, but could be a powerful tool in sports games and franchise modes.

      Re: Xbox One

So the Xbox One could essentially become the Netflix of gaming. Which I guess wouldn't be horrible if you really think about it. If they implemented Steam like sales and good pricing it would be a huge benefit. The problem is when I have gone on Live to look for games to buy for download they always seem to be much higher than the retail value. Now if they are on par with Steam like prices that could be very persuasive.

Like I've said earlier... I don't see steam like sales coming to consoles. Especially for AAA titles these days.

PC versions aren't their money makers and it seems like at this point (save for MOBAs, MMOs, RTS and ARPGs) any money the devs/pubs get from PC is just a bonus.

Offering deep discounts on any AAA console (be it X1 or PS4) game is something I wouldn't hold my breath for. If they do it, sales wouldn't be enough to cover their budgets for the AAA games.

Budgets just continue to skyrocket while sales are pretty stagnant in general, unless you already have a big established IP.

I ended up getting the Original Xbox and from that point on I was an Xbox guy. As I said I have gone through 3 or 4 different Xbox 360's which I paid in full. No free repairs, nothing. I had a PS3 at some point too, but I just preferred the Xbox 360 over the PS3.

I was going into this generation expecting to get the next Xbox didn't even really think about the next Playstation. However after all this news started coming out about the Xbox One it started to really disappoint me. After I watched E3 and got a good bit of information on both consoles I decided the better value IMO was the PS4 for a lot of reasons. The reason I have been so hard on the Xbox One is because that was like my baby and I felt really betrayed by them when they put all these restrictions and rules on it.

Does the Xbox One of cool features and good ideas? Absolutely, but they have some big disadvantages to a lot of people. So much so that people are leaning toward the PS4. IMO if you are going to be choosing a console it should be because it is the better console not because the one you really wanted was a disappointment or not what you would expect from a game console. PS4 is a great console so don't get me wrong and thinking I am only getting PS4 for these reasons. I am just saying. Now will I get both consoles? Of course I will. Xbox One has cool features and great exclusives. It's just sad to see the Xbox One go down the road it has chosen. Now could it end up being better than it's made out to be? Yes, but as it looks right now not so much.
I'm in the same boat as you. Love my PS3 , love my 360's, yes I have two 360's. My gaming is split 80/20 360/PS3. however I'm going with the PS4 at launch because I want more of a gaming only console. I will get the Xbox one, just not for 6 months or so, I mean come on did you see Titan Fall? That thing looks amazing.

When I do get my Xbox one it will not be connected to my Directv Box , don't want my game system to control my Tv viewing, and if possible I will not use connect. Never had any desire for connect, still don't. I'm actually hoping down the line a bit MS releases an Xbox one without the connect at a lower price for the people that don't want that functionality. It's a great time to be a gamer.

Won't happen. They are focusing on Kinect so heavily this gen it's unbelievable.

That being said, if they ever make the XBone to where I don't need a Kinect... I will purchase it the day that happens. Which will, sadly, be never.

Also, if you want Titanfall... just purchase the PC version. I know I will be if it comes out through Steam. Though, if it's forced to go through Origin I won't be purchasing it (which is probably more likely than not.)

Pre-Ordered this. Love the Smart Glass addition. Also something that wasn't mentioned. If your Kinect Sensor is on, the Zombies will be able to hear what's going on in your playing enviornment. The more noise they hear the more drawn they are to you. Simply fan freakin tastic.....

No more posts like these. This is borderline political and therefore against the TOS. Lets keep it about the system and not conspiracy theories. Last Warning.

I don't think it'll work with DirectTV, at least at the start. By not work, of course the TV viewing part of the console won't do what they demo'd

My bad. I thought it was funny satire. But understood.

I would gladly discuss the term "conspiracy theory" and it's indoctrination in a PM, since we cannot discuss it here, and it is thrown around as loosely as "fanboy" and other terminology by the masses.

I have not pre-ordered any games yet for either system.
That was an amazing read, tons of insight there. Has me really excited for the things Xbox One has planned down the road. It's ambitions are huge and people are scared of change but reading all that I think it'll be for the better.

Worked fine with Google TV and plenty of other universal remotes, no reason to expect it won't.

GoogleTV erased all of my preconceived hatred of IR blasters, heh.

                                Re: Xbox One

Honest question not knowing too much about Live : But, how good are the discounts and how many free games come out every week with the Live subscription?

I'm not sure, but I perceive from what little I know that they just started giving games free which leads me to believe that sales were not all that prevalent?

And if that is correct, then I'm not sure how anyone can honestly believe that Steam like sales/prices would be coming to Xbox all of a sudden. I just don't see publishers or xbox doing anything different because there's been more than ample chance these past years which doesn't come to fruition - All this talk of being hopeful for Steam model being xbox's vision seems misleading at the moment. Because if it were a model they would embrace, do you not think that once they'd ANNOUNCE that their setup and requirements were implemented so that game prices could be $39.99 as opposed to $59.99 ? Are they that stupid of a marketing department to leave out an awesome fact that could have softened the ridiculousness of their "drm" stance - Or is it that this isn't going to be in cards through xbox or by the publishers just as it's not been for 3 years now when there's been digital downloads and no change in price. I just don't buy the argument like the engineer's note, and to me it just comes off as reaching or throwing stuff at the wall to see what may stick.

Just the business model and decisions by Microsoft for a gaming console really has me shaking my head, and it seems that is a driving force for a lot of the backlash or lower than PS4 sales at the moment. Not necessarily the console but everything about what it requires and how these knuckleheads in suits present it. Which if it's presentation it means those guys are IDIOTS which isn't good, or (and likely the case) means things are just like they seem or WORSE which also makes the guys speaking IDIOTS to allow it to be the machine it is and turn off people to the machine already.
