I disagree, this is their focus and bread and butter, we will see fixes sooner than later. Guarantee fixes already being worked on, one of the problems with it also is voice commands, in a lot of UI review videos they were not using proper commands, reason for some repeating. certain exact commands are important because if they just made you say "home" instead of "xbox home" you might get more accidental switching.

Re: Xbox One
My Xbone is preparing for shipment on Amazon, the wait seems unbearable now but so close!
Curious for others who preordered Forza on Amazon, has your status changed from preordered yet? Ordered it with release day shipping so hoping it makes it here same day as the console.Favorite Teams:

I'm sure stuff will be ironed out but I have no idea on timeframe and if the stuff they want to do is even possible with their box.badComment

Re: Xbox One
Reading between the lines on how the news on the console was initially received, the Internet backlash, and the subsequent backtracking on some policies, I believe the software development side of the console is behind the hardware rollout. They had to compete with Sony on shipping dates, and still couldn't make last weekend (15th) which has to kill them being behind from the start. Obviously they were making hardware tweaks, but a lot of things had to be changed around authentication and "phoning home" which is on the software side.
IF (seriously, if) you agree with my premise above, you have to believe that what we're going to see released is really Xbox One UI 1.0, with (hopefully) the major bugs ironed out, but not all of the features and tuning that they wanted to get in. I don't think it's beta software, but it's not up to the level of what the hardware (esp. Kinect) can fully deliver. Missed voice commands certainly can go to the user, but hitting the B button should get you home, and they are capable of changing that in the future. Same goes for a lot of other things (Skype snap, support for USB media, etc.) I'm not comparing to Sony here intentionally, don't think we need to.
My point is this: the evolution of the UI and OS will move fairly quickly after release to get to 1.3 or 1.4. They won't be really "re-thinking" anything for at least a year, since they'll be focused on A) getting the major properties and exclusives out and B) making sure your Netflix/Hulu/HBO/NFL/Twitch/other services experience is feature complete and matches other apps and toolsets. We also know that through the first year, we won't see the full capability of SmartGlass, or the full capability of universal remote control of devices - they just aren't ready. Think Xbox 360 original UI - the blades morphed over time, and I think they've realized they may want to throw out a lot of the paradigm two years from now and have built a software stack that can support a transition like that. They'd have to be really naive to skip that natural step - you need to abstract the UI away from games, and it sounds like they did that with some memory and CPU reservation to keep things smooth.
I'm not necessarily disappointed with Microsoft's ambition here, and I'm excited to pick up a One within the next month or two (after the initial rush), but they have a lot to do. My hope is that they relish the opportunity to turn their focus back to software, as they've shipped a capable box, and spend time away from "proving" to the 'Net that they have something worth paying for. The price point is what it is, the feature set is what it is...now own it and build on top of this base with great, bug free software.
Hope you guys agree on the potential here, whether or not they've executed well up to this point.Last edited by NaturalSelected; 11-21-2013, 09:38 AM.Arsenal FC

Re: Xbox One
I'll probably wait to pick up my Best Buy order in the morning, see how the "flip" market looks, and if it's a couple hundred, then I'll be sure to flip it the other way. Otherwise, may keep it for a few months, or maybe closer to Christmas. We'll see.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Xbox One
I remember reading a while back they designed the controller to break apart if thrown against a wall/floor and then can be put back together. Was that just a rumor?Comment

Re: Xbox One
I have noticed your comments you make in this thread all the long, it is obvious you are a PlayStation fan-boy, which is great - to each their own, but not sure what your comments are feedback prove except this? There is a PlayStation thread just for you and the NG decision you made. Coming in here to not really give any real information besides a obvious PlayStation bias is not needed. I for one do not go into PlayStation thread talking about how much better I think Xbone features will be and how PlayStation messes things up.Comment

Re: Xbox One
He hasn't specifically mentioned PS4 other than when others bring it up, though.
We've been discussing the UI and what things still need to be ironed out before this thing starts living up to its potential as being your one-stop entertainment center hub and control center. Honestly, the no surround sound pass-through boggles my mind. The UI is pretty, but it doesn't appeal to me at all.
