Thanks...was hoping for one with the online code, but I can wait a week to 10 days for free shipping...not getting Xbox until Christmas anyways.

Just guessing that the wife will have no idea about XBL Gold lol Even if she got me something a year of Gold at 40 bucks is worth it.

Does anyone else think it's insane that I'm wrapping up my unopened Xbox One, putting it under the Christmas tree from Santa and waiting until Christmas to open it?

Nah. I kinda like waiting for something big. It's been years since I've been super excited to open stuff. Plus you have a PS4 too, so no biggie.

I've realized that it's not like I'd have that much time to use it over the next 2 weeks anyways, so why not wait and have fun then.

Sometimes the waiting/anticipation is the best part!

I am not looking forward to the insanely long day one update though lol

              Re: Xbox One

That's true, you bring up all the points I was going too..of course the day one update will be even worse with all the new people hitting xbox live that day.

I did use to do something similar to this when I was younger. I would shovel snow and save money and buy a game or something and have my grandparents wrap it to me from Santa. That would be in addition to the couple of games I was getting already.

My family would only usually get me one or two games. They'd say they wanted to get me "other stuff"... You know, fun stuff like socks and a sweater

I'm pretty excited myself but can only get two games to start, my fiancé has agreed to get me one and I won a football pool so I'm getting one. I am definitely buying Forza for myself but I can't decide between asking her to get me Ryse (which my fiancé would love as she's all about Rome) or Dead Rising 3...

Like you said too, having the PS4 and 7 games makes the wait a helluva lot easier, LOL..

I'm interested in Ryse, but I'm hoping for DR3 (or I'll get it myself lol). My wife knows I like zombies, so I think she'd go with DR3, but Ryse would be fine too.

I'm also hyped about being able to snap stuff, chat with family over skype easier, etc. I know that stuff will evolve, and isn't perfect now, but I like new technology!

Oh yeah, I was the same as a kid...I'd get a game or 2 max... I'd have to save up money for stuff, but my parents would help out occasionally. I wasn't spoiled, nor will I totally spoil my kids. Not good for them to get everything they think they want.

Not at all! I've got the PS4 and the Xbox One on their launch days and they are both wrapped sitting under the tree. Like MGO said, waiting is the best part.

Reading this thread and the PS4 thread helps me get by.

Don't know how you're doing it but you're a better man than me. Supposed to have my XB1 between the 13th and 17th.

On launch night I got an email confirmation saying my order had shipped, had the biggest grin and thought, man I'm getting it earlier than expected. Open the email and it's just the confirmation for FM5. Swear I've been checking my email every 10 min since then. So far.........no luck!

                          Re: Xbox One

Microsoft is releasing its first Xbox One system update today following the release of the console on November 22nd. The update will be released at 8PM ET today and Xbox One consoles with the “Instant On” feature will be automatically updated in the background while the system is in standby. Microsoft's first Xbox One patch addresses a number of bugs that owners have reported, including inconsistent notifications and SmartGlass connection problems.

Other improvements include updates to the Xbox One’s TV feature with content updates for what Microsoft describes as “scaling over time.” The wireless networking driver for the console has also been updated to improve connectivity alongside improvements to multiplayer games when re-joining sessions. Microsoft is also promising that it has “quite a few updates” planned for next year based on the feedback from existing Xbox One owners. If your Xbox One is on standby then the update process is automatic today, otherwise you’ll be required to download and install the update after Thursday, December 12th.

Off topic, but reminds me of the "Great Heist of 1991". I was 12 found my Super Nintendo in my folks bedroom about 2 weeks before Christmas.

I put in place the best plan that was ever planned. They went out to dinner. I went in, slid out the Styrofoam casing, took out the SNES..........AWWWWWWWW YAHHHHHHHH....

Hooked it all up. Kept the stuff in the box that needed to be in and added my parents' phone book for the weight.... THE RINGER CAN NOT LOOK EMPTY!

I hid the system under my bed with my good old NES out in the wide open. I had Super Mario World beat by Christmas day. It was bliss and an amazing heist, although my parents could not find the phonebook.

Christmas day came, I opened it and ran like the dickens as by the time my parents could catch up I HAD TO HAVE THE BOX ALL OPEN, otherwise the jig was up.

WOrked great. Phone book got placed behind the office desk ever so gently.

BUt I got mine...........I had to spend the next days playing only f^&%$$^G ULTRAMAN!!!!!!! Worst game ever.

Sorry off topic, thinking of putting an XboxOne under the tree at 35 years old, I"m thinking my wife's Yellow Pages would be missing for 2 weeks.

The only problem with doing that with the XboxOne is that you'll need to put 2 phone books in the box to compensate for the weight. Lol. This thing is heavy a heck.
