Best buy has become the fast food of electronics, it's a crap shoot when you buy from them. I'll never shop there again, customer service is the worst.

Then don't use a Best Buy card, they don't really help your credit score much. Plus, charging near your max and paying off also doesn't improve your credit scrore.

          Some tips.

To piggy back off extreme, make sure to check your credit score. Many store cards do not report the information to the credit bureaus.

Every time I go into Best Buy it's a crapshoot with the service. I still go because of the GC and I get 20% off games. That's one of the things that keeps me from going digital.

Yeah, the GC at what I got 2 years for was a no brainer.

I also can get great trade in deals (either at BB or other places, Target had insane value recently), so that keeps me from going digital. If they had some sort of game trade in where I could get halfway decent value I'd consider going all digital. As of yet I sometimes still get 40ish bucks to trade something in, so why would I pass that up?

Why does BB take the hit? It's a Citibank card... outside the logo on the card and the special financing offers BB has with Citi, it's all Citi.

Either way you should have asked what your available credit is. It is what it is and now you can move on. I've never known any credit card company that processes payment same day. As long as I make payment by like 5 in the afternoon, my payment is credited next business day.

Best Buy puts their name on the card, they call the card their card, it doesn't matter who they have proctor it, it's their card.

It was stated in the original post that the guy he chatted with said he could go into the store and buy an XBone with the card, so he was given wrong information by someone under the Best Buy name.

When he got there, card was declined, then the person he was on the phone with said they could override it and authorize the payment, then reneged on that and just told him he'd have to wait until Monday.

So what we have is two people, under the Best Buy name, failing customer service (one obviously not understanding their own policies, the other making promises they can't fulfill). Ultimately, it doesn't matter much if this was a direct Best Buy employee, or a Citi employee, either way it was a person acting as an agent of Best Buy.

I guess you missed the part about me chatting with a rep from the bank and him telling me my payment was cleared and my balance was $0.. As for your second comment it's a Best buy card, managed by Citicorp, so although it may be Citi who made the error they represent Best Buy. I didn't apply for a Citicorp card, I applied for a Best buy card in a Best Buy store.

I get you guys point that it's technically Citibanks error but you obviously aren't getting my point that they represent best Buy and it's A best Buy credit card.

Thank you! Apparently someone besides me sees the issue here in regards to Best Buy.

Bottom line here is it was Best Buy who lost the $499 sale..

I don't get how citi bank telling you your balance is correct, and then best buy not being able to process the payment because you thought a payment would process immediately is best buys fault but whatever. That's like saying the Heat lost the championship because of their owner. Sure, the players sucked, but it was the owners team with his name slapped on it so it's all on him.

That's not what happened here. He talked to someone under the name Best Buy that told him you can go into a store and buy a console right now. There was no assumption on his part.

Also, Best Buy takes the hit on the customer service responses of Citibank the moment they authorize Citibank to operate under the Best Buy name.

An example of this is the story of the kid that some KFC made leave because her face, injured from being mauled by a dog, was bothering other patrons. Now, in this case you have an employee of a franchisee who did this and KFC took the hit. All KFC did was get paid to let this franchisee use their name, but they take the hit, just like Best Buy authorizes Citibank to use their name.

BTW, that KFC story is looking like it's a hoax, but the KFC PR hit was real.

Slowly adjusting to life with my XB1. Feeling lost quite a bit still lol Although alot of that has to do with the lack of games.

Also, is it just me being lost, or is the XB marketplace/store really bare at this point in time? I'm assuming its because there's not alot of games out, but I feel like I'm missing parts of it still. Is there no longer an option to just sort all titles alphabetically? Or by genre etc like there was on 360? All I can seem to find in the store are a "new releases" section, "top rated" and I think recommendations. Just seems relaly difficult to navigate and find things.

Got to say, really enjoying playing Forza 5 though, looks incredible IMO.
