I could never live without the kinect at this point. The voice features are just way too convenient. xbox record that, xbox watch tv, xbox watch espn, xbox snap party. Things you just can't do with a controller.

      Re: Xbox One

I still have the basic xbox 360 headset. I read about an adapter but I'm still confused if that adapter only works for turtle beach type headsets or all. I read about splicing wires but im not messing with that. I've always liked the basic ones because i hate wearing a bulky headset. I'm buying a much much needed tv too so i hate adding up all these extra things i'll probably end up buying.

Damn near any headset will work with the exception of a couple Mad Catz/Tritton headsets.

Hey guys, I have a question...

The past week or so I have been trying to decide if I wanted to keep my Xbox One or PS4. I really want to keep the Xbox One, but I have a question that is vital in my decision.

Right now, I feel the PS4 is killing the Xbox One performance-wise. I have BF4 on both consoles and I think that the PS4 version blows the Xbox One version out of the water. But I heard that developers are going to stop utilizing the Kinect, therefore making the system more powerful. I just wanted to know if the performance-gap is likely to stay later on down the road..

I want to keep my Xbox One because I like the direction Microsoft is going with it. I like how they are listening to the community, and they are killing it with the monthly updates.

Any responses would be appreciated, and I'd like a non-biased answer. Thank you.

I suppose I am non-biased since I have owned both since launch. With a bunch of B1G1 and B2G1 deals I got all my games for PS4 at launch (NFS, AC4, BF4, Killzone, Lego Marvel, Knack, FIFA, Madden, a couple others...) and my XB1 stayed in the box until around March when my dad wanted to get one and play Dead Rising Coop.

I loved the tv integration, the system OS/dashboard a lot more, kinect voice controls, and most importantly, the controller a lot more. My thumb would always slip off the left thumbstick while playing fifa, so I sold it and picked up the XB1 version. Have sold just about all my PS4 games and have gotten them for XB1 at this point.

With above said (along with the fact the monthly updates have been great, same with the free with gold) I have left the XB1 as my primary gaming system in the family room and leave my PS4 in the office to play the free PS+ games.

Now to your question - PS4 has better hardware no doubt. And the XB1 is harder to optimize. Personally though after playing games on PS4 then the XB1, I don't notice a difference. Sure I can when they are side by side in videos but otherwise when sitting there playing the XB1, I certainly don't play and think...man this looked way better on PS4. With the freed up memory with not needing all the kinect features enabled it should close the gap. And down the road (like 360 and PS3) the XB1 should get better/closer as time goes on. Exclusives will look great on both. Third party will be close to identical in most cases (even a recent game like Wolfenstein was identical framerate and resolution) and probably a lot will be identical down the road. However due to the hardware alone, the PS4 will always be capable of being "better", and some third party games might be for years to come.

However it is up to you if the difference bothers you that much, if so, stick with PS4 because like mentioned above, there will probably always be cases where it will look better, but yes I think the gap will close. Personally I would go with the features/OS you like better over a slight graphical difference on a handful of games...and keep in mind the game that did bother you by looking a lot worse on XB1 was a launch game.

Maybe wait until the end of the year after a bunch of A++ titles come out, and see what the difference is like then? Or the simple answer, just keep both

I don't have an answer I just have a question that might lead. What is of ultimate value to you in a gaming console? Answer that and then whatever system best fits that is PERHAPS your best choice. But if you have competing value (which I assume is the case since you purchased both in the first place) then the answer is a lot more complicated and you just have to take a leap Mr. Cobb

My question is what made you pick up the xbox one in the first place? The graphical difference has always been there and while the PS4 has better hardware, none of us can say what this free 10% is going to do in the end.

I have both and I can honestly say that I play my PS4 more, but I'm not getting rid of my Xbox. As ODogg said, keep both if you can. You won't miss out on anything. It's going to fun watching both of these systems develop.

I think it is worth owning both, if you can afford to. If you really need to let go of one for some extra cash (I've been there before, I sold a PS3 or a 360 multiple times last gen cycle) then I really think it is going to be hard for someone to give you a straight answer that applies to you. Only you really know what you enjoy most about playing videogames.

I, like you, have noticed a difference in multi-plat games. I've said it many times and I won't elaborate anymore. Is the difference there? Who knows, but I just know what my eyes tell me. Maybe it is my TV. I've also heard or read people saying that they felt it was the opposite, so who really knows. As far as the kinect thing, I am not sure about it, I would like to research that because doesn't the kinect take up 2 of the 8 cores by itself or something like that? We've known since well before launch that the PS4 had a slight hardware edge. That being said, just look at Ryse and how beautiful that game is, it is clear the One more than holds its own.

Which exclusives most interest you? I think the One has way awesome exclusives coming out within the next 12 months. I can't wait. This time next year I think the One might be my most played system for the first time since launch.

I only own a PS4 and while im definitely a lot more favored towards PS4 than I am Xbox One, I say KEEP BOTH consoles. Chances are that if you get rid of one or the other, you'll eventually want to buy it again.

Speaking as an Xbox-only guy, if you really like what the One has to offer, don't let the power difference stop you from just enjoying it. It's not as powerful as PS4, but it is still a next-gen caliber machine. I had the same decision to make when I purchased last December and I have no regrets going with the One.
