You might already know this but in case you don't, even though your tv isn't full HDR, look to see if you have a setting called HDMI UHD Color. That will an enable the tv to receive an HDR signal and give a little better color. My tv isn't full HDR, but the firmware was patched with this and turning it on makes the picture a little better, and it checks all the boxes in the 4K details menu on the Xbox One S.

On my tv (Samsung JU6500), you go to Menu, then Picture, then Picture Options, then HDMI UHD Color, from there you can pick which inputs you want to turn that on for. Supposedly, all of the non-HDR 2015 Samsung tv's received this firmware update to support HDR signals. I'm not sure if other manufacturers did anything similar with their tv's.

If you guys want to have the best HDR possible make sure you get a FALD tv and not an edge lite LED

The HDR content will look superior in FALD tv's compared to edge lit LED

Loving the new slimmer XBOS.

Hooked it up to my 4K tv and looks awesome. I was contemplating buying a 4K UHD player vs the new X1. Was able to get $175 for my XBO on Craigslist so it made the decision easier.

Bought some 4K UHD blu rays and I'm happy i did.

Re-downloading some games right now so I don't have a review on how they look yet.

There is no extra input lag on UDH mode in Samsung sets. HDR only activates if the source calls for it...Right now UHD slightly improves colors and that also depends on the set..4K upscaling is better on xb1 s over the tv

You can see the difference in terms of sharpness

This is extremely misleading and depends on the tv. Just go on rtings.com and you'll see that the best 2016 tv they highly recommend after the OLED LG's is the Samsung ks8000 series which is edge lit over the FALD 3rd place VIZIO. I've chatted back and forth with many people on AVS and other sites who've bought both models and the majority say the Samsung ks8000 has the better picture.

Black levels are relatively light, and Samsung's dimming didn't perform as well as the competition to enhance contrast. Uniformity along the edges is also an issue, especially noticeable with letterbox bars and HDR material.


Dim lighting: The KS8000 was a middling performer in my lineup in a dark room. Its black levels weren't as deep as the LG OLED, the JS9500, the Sony or the Vizio, leading to a more washed-out look in dark scenes. During "The Revenant," for example, the letterbox bars and shadows were noticeably lighter in the Chapter 4 scene where Hugh reassures his son Hawk at the campsite.

I also noticed more blooming on the KS8000, where bright areas would spill over and illuminate the letterbox bars and other dark areas, hurting the perception of contrast. The bottom edge of the TV, right next to the bottom frame, also often appeared brighter than the rest of the image, especially below a highlight. I chalk this issue up to limitations with the KS8000's edge-lit system, and it's something the edge-lit Sony and the full-array Vizio handled much more cleanly.

Its lighter black levels and less-uniform screen were even more visible with HDR since it calls for a maxed-out backlight setting, and overall its HDR image fell short of the Sony and Vizio.


Nobody is going to deny that FALD trumps Edge Lit all day everyday.. OLED is the best but HDR can suffer a bit on the OLED due to the OLED being a dimmer set to the FALD LED.

I do not think anyone at AVS will tell you to choose LED Edge Lit over LED FALD or OLED

I know the difference between edge lit and FALD even though you tried explaining it. I never got defensive. I was very specific and compared the 2 best TVs under the $6,000-$5,000 OLED LG out this year. You do realize that the Vizio P only has low input lag on one HDMI port and that's port #5 and that port doesn't support HDR. If you go on any other HDMI port with with HDR enabled it's averaging 65ms and 38ms without HDR. I'm honestly considering getting the OLED LG, I don't know if I want to spend $5,000 on a tv. Also, please provide the link to this review. I'd like to see who reviewed it and if it's a respected credible site. Couldn't you buy one? The controller headphones port works with a headset....gotta be a microphone you could plug into that and it'd work...I know they sell them for smartphones to use a slightly better microphone than the phone itself....

Think I'll order both of those instead.

that should let your controller always listen...I think it'd work. I was thinking the same thing though, just with the Xbox One Media Remote (got my 2nd one in the mail Friday). I could see them adding a mic to that eventually. We have kinect but otherwise it'd be more useful.

Still having trouble getting it to change to certain channels, but hoping Cortana gets better.
