I'll do more research on it
Make sure to look at input lag when looking for a tv that you plan playing games on. I'm not sure what the model numbers of the LG's that you are looking at are and what their input lag is, but they should be on this chart: http://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag

I dont want to derail this thread but (maybe it was already derailed so why not ) If they can make this work that would be awesome. VR is really gaining some momentum and looks to be a big hit but if they can get AR working like this, it would be great

Is this chart saying the Vizio D series is the best gaming tv as far as lag input ?

Right now I see a Samsung 7000 series SUHD 55 inch for about $900. It's the 2015 model. I see a LG 55 inch 4K with HDR pro for 600. I see a Samsung 55 inch 6300 for $799 as well. I really want to spend under a grand To hold me over til after grad school. I'm in no rush to get it because the Scorpio doesn't come out til next year.

              App floodgates opening soon hopefully.

BTW, you will soon be able to create and publish your own UWP apps on Xbox One. I'd love to see the background music apps you come up with!

Yeah....i asked this question in the TV thread. They can do HDR and other things, and better stuff like OLED and all that, but I don't think resolution or the main type of things will matter.

I think it'll be a lot more like tablets and phones, where the newer ones are nicer but not as required as they were 5 years ago.

My goal is to get a 65" 4k HDR tv eventually, then I figure my living room will be all set. Though we'll probably want to move before I can get a tv, so may be a while....

lol but do people really need this at home? Sure, movies or imax or something, but I tend to think 4k will be just fine for 99% of people.

LOL they also have people cooking 25lb burgers. There will always be people striving to create things first, the biggest, and the best. It doesn't make it logical lol.

With a name like the Apocalypse Burger, there can be no coming back for anyone brave enough to tackle this giant meat feast.

Honestly a lot of people will be blown away by 1080p 60fps alone. It looks so damn good compared to upscaled 900p or 720p at 30fps on bigger TVs .

I have watched a few Blu Ray's and honestly, I don't notice any difference whatsoever. I'm not really a movie buff but when I do buy a movie, it's to keep and it's always the DVD version. A few extra visuals doesn't mean anything to me (especially if the movie sucks) and I never bother with the extra features and whatnot so I would much rather spend $10 on a DVD instead of $35+ on a Blu Ray.

If I rent a movie via PSN or for last gen, Xbox 360, I always rent the 480P SD version simply because I used to rent the HD version but I realized that there's minimal to no difference, at least to me anyway so I figure, why not save the extra few bucks and rent another movie if I want to. Also, just in case there's a problem with Optimum or it's being heavily used, I know that with SD streaming, I should have no issues and no buffering which to be perfectly honest, is what I care about the most.

Games wise, pretty sure that Scorpio will be the first console that will allow you to play games in 4K but at the same time, it also depends on the developer/publisher as they may not even target that. For the publishers to put money into 4K, they would have to be extremely confident that there's a substantial user install base of 4K TV's that gamers play games on. Right now, it's still minimal.

Wait what!? I can tell the difference between 720p vs 1080p it's very noticeable. I avoid movies in 720p as much as possible. This has to be a joke or maybe your TV set is really bad. Is your tv 1080p and calibrated?I've been wowed by some of the quality of 1080p blu rays. Watch the "book of Eli" on blu ray and tell me it doesn't look insane. I can tell the difference between Netflix compressed 1080p and blu ray uncompressed 1080p. I recently bought a 65 inch 4K HDR set and now I'm always looking for 4K content lol. No way in hell I'd watch a movie in 480p in 2016.

I've been wanting to get one = but I would really like one that can control all of my DirecTv DVR stuff too. The Xbox IR blaster is capable as it can be done with the remote in the SmartGlass app...but I cannot find a good physical remote with the same functions (outside of potentially a high priced logitech.)

This one seems to be what I am looking for (and officially licensed) but doesn't come out until October:
