I don't need to play them as I already know. The last game I played was Madden NFL 13 and I have seen gameplay of Madden NFL 17 and 18. Watching the DB jumping animation and hand swatting, it's EXACTLY the same animation. NONE of them have changed. NFL 2K5 13 years later still has far better pure gameplay than current Madden. This will never be surpassed. Presentation in Madden is still a joke compared to 2K5. EA even purchased the ESPN license just to take it away from 2K and they have NEVER used it in any of their sports games which makes no sense at all

No, you don't know and we don't care you don't know, but don't act like you do.

Madden plays a great game and they upgraded commentary last year on a weekly basis and this year there is a Play Now similar to NBA 2k. Commentary already surpassed 2k and those squeaky voices.

You sure you are following EA sports games? NBA Live will be using the ESPN license this year. So, no, you don't always know it all.

Review scores have been quite the opposite for Madden, they have very good.

I'm not sure why you spout this stuff when there isn't validity behind it, just subjectivity.

Holy crap!!! NBA Live is using the ESPN license??? WOW. Only took EA 13 years to finally implement it.

Madden NFL 2005 - 91 metacritic for PS2 and Xbox with a 7.9 and 7.6 user score respectively. Madden NFL 06 on PS2 is the ONLY game that has a high user score and it's only by 1/10th a point. The PS2 version has an 88 metacritic with Xbox at 86 and Xbox 360 at 74. These two scores of 88 and 86 is the closest the franchise has ever come to 2005 so no, it's not me spouting stuff. It's actual FACTS. And you can look it all up yourself.

Even here on OPERATION SPORTS, the only Madden to surpass the 8.5 mark was Madden NFL 2010 with a 9/10 and that's STILL 1/10th of a point short of being better than a game that came out five years earlier so yeah, I do know what im talking about because I actually have researched it and check Madden reviews every year hoping that maybe, just maybe, they give me an NFL game that surpasses 2K5 but each and every year, they seem to just get further away from accomplishing that.

And the simple FACT (again, not my opinion but FACT) that even here on the site all of you are on for sports games reviews Madden every year lower than a 13 year old game should not only tell you something but also proves and validates my point.

But hey, don't blame me as im not the one who develops the game. Personally, I think that EA should skip a year, release an updated roster for FREE for all the fans that support the game all these decades and actually give you a far better game two years later but sadly, that's not going to happen and without any competition, there's no reason for them to do so.

I mean, your rants Daniel, speak one thing to me. You're concerned with you, and you only. OK, great. You think stories in sports games are pointless. I agree. Not going to lie. but im not about to sit here and rant about it. Becuase, you know what, there's people, that know far more about this stuff than you, and I. Those are the people making these games. Clearly the MAdden team at EA knew there's a demand for the mode. It's obvious by how much has been made of other sports titles having the feature, and Madden not having it. So, here it is. Why? Because get this... despite what you might think, other people WANT it. Other people will play it. Sure, it might take some resources away from other areas, and you may think those area's are stale, and that's fine, because sure, there are issues with those area's in most sports games, but this rant of yours also makes me feel like you dont understand sports. Sports, and football in general are far more advanced, and require far more advanced AI programming than typical games.

I'm just, at a loss for words when I come to this forum sometimes. You dont like the XB1 in general. We all know that by now. Self admitting, you dont like sports titles. Then what's the point of posting in this particular forum, dedicated to the XB1, on a sports gaming forum. I just dont get it, but damn, it's painful. It's really time I research the ignore feature on these forums. This is just painful to read.

I don't need to play them. I played Madden 2005, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 AND finished with 13. There's literally minimal to no difference gameplay wise. The same crap tricks still works, the same bugs, glitches and flaws that people take advantage of still exist. None of it has changed. I don't need to play them to know this simply because I look at the publisher, a nine month dev cycle, no competition and minimal changes in the last 13 years. You don't need to play Madden to know exactly what you're getting each and every year. I could play 18 and I guarantee that whatever I did in 13 will STILL WORK effectively because none of it ever gets fixed and I know this to be fact simply because up to 13, every Madden topic would be the same - was this fixed or adjusted? Does offensive pass interference work and actually get called this year? Or is it just the same non-existent penalty despite being maxed out at 100?

Bash me all you want but I quit for one simple reason - nothing in the gameplay ever changed. And this isn't Madden but all sports games. They all just copy and paste year after year with a few minor changes and a roster update. And they get away with it because they know that those who want to play sports games have no alternative and buy it anyway.

But hey, despite my own personal opinion, im not stopping you from buying and playing the game. Hell, go buy two copies. I don't care. I just want sports games to be good to great again but I know that they never will be so I did the smart thing - I stopped buying and supporting them.

So, I don't look into strangers opinions on the www to purchase a game that I will enjoy and let that be the only opinion that matters or counts, but hey, if that is your scientific measuring stick, by all means, go for it.

And stop with this almighty I know it for a fact crap, it's not working with me or others. I've already caught you in some of your unfactual facts and here is another one: 18 is the same as 13, hahaha.......You win...............

80% of the legacy issues are being fixed for 18.

Anything else you want to point out as fact?

I don't dislike or hate the Xbox One. I hate the direction Microsoft is taking and I hate Spencer's bullcrap PR speak. I hate that Spencer seems to care more about updates, features and apps than he does making new IP's and focusing more on first party titles. That's what I hate. If I truly disliked or hated Xbox One, I wouldn't have purchased it FOUR freaking times. I bought Forza Horizon 3 DIGITALLY a month ago which I rarely do for either console and waiting for Blizzard Mountain to go on sale for $10. I also bought the Storm Island expansion for Forza Horizon 2 when it was on sale for $5 and im actually pissed at myself that I didn't look into FH2 back in June when I purchased FH3 because I could have had it for $20 DIGITALLY (yes, im buying it digitally) but instead, now, I hate to wait for a sale and since I want to play them in order and will be buying FH4 next year DIGITALLY, I really don't understand why anyone here thinks that I hate Xbox One. I have no problem with the brand. My problems are what I stated above. Despite my problems towards the direction and focus of Microsoft and Spencer, I still own and play the damn thing so how much could I possibly dislike/hate it if I still actually own and play the damn thing?

I have no problem if others want stories or whatever but to me, those people are just ignoring or bypassing the far bigger issue - the gameplay never gets better or evolves. What works today worked a decade ago. That's my problem. I don't care if people play sports games but I would like to see those who play them, get to play BETTER sports games but never get better. They simply stay the same. That's why I quit.

And I would be posting the exact same thing on the PS4 board but this debate was posted here so I responded. I didn't start the sports debate and quite honestly, it has nothing to do with Xbox One or PS4 in general. It has to do with the sports games themselves and them not being as good as a decade ago or even older. That's the problem I have. The console brand is irrelevant as it's not about either.

As for your story comment, yeah it's nice to have cutscenes and a possible story line in a sports game. There are so many modes that make it possible to do so many different things.

I'd think as a single player offline only guy you'd sympathize with that...smh

Really? OS eliminated the 10 rating scale? Not according to last year's Madden review, they didn't. That looks like an 8/10 to me.

I don't have a deal at all. I just see sports games for what they are and have been. If other people want to see them differently, that's up to them. It's not my money so I don't care if people buy them. I just want them to be BETTER especially in terms of gameplay but it never happens.

Hahaha. Actually, no. As a single player off-line guy, I just want a good solid franchise mode with an off-season that's fun like a good draft, FA system, etc. I care about the games themselves. Stories not at all because why would I care about some fake non-existent player in a game of actual NFL players? Not to mention the fact that if the gameplay isn't good, none of the other stuff matters either way because I would just quit playing.

They are better, if, as you imply they were just doing bare bones minimal roster upgrades then they wouldn't sell like gangbusters (take a look at the sales charts for last year, see how many are sports games). YOU just don't think they're better and hey, that's cool, but don't confuse your opinion as fact.

I will be the first to admit I was wrong(wish you would do the same sometimes) with the scoring of games at OS, for some reason I thought they switched over from another type of grading scale. Sorry about that.

Still, other peoples opinions on games in general mean squat to me.

You're right, I PERSONALLY don't think that they're better. I played Madden every damn year for like eight years in a row and I just finally had enough because nothing changed. Sadly, I actually enjoyed the gameplay in M13 (Megatron on the cover) and even did the practice mode to get the XP for increasing the player attributes BUT there was a huge problem. The difficulty/AI sliders. I had all of the human sliders set at 25. CPU maxed out at 100. And I could literally bury them just by running and stuffing the CPU running game. Problem is that moving down the rushing tackle attribute or something that affects the CPU running game just one spot to 24 made the CPU unstoppable. I couldn't tackle them for anything but at 25, I would bury them. That made me say enough is enough. For everything Madden gets right, they get two things wrong. This horrible unbalanced difficulty made me say enough. And hell, I was really into it because I did post a franchise in the Dynasty section here at OS. I wouldn't do that if I wasn't into the game. My thinking is that if after eight years or so of the same problems never getting fixed or solved, you eventually come to the conclusion that they never will be. Maybe they have but after eight years, im long done giving EA my money for Madden or any publisher for any sports game for that matter.

I do admit when im wrong but when it comes to Madden, after being disappointed for eight years in a row and just finally having enough, I simply don't have it in me to give the game the benefit of the doubt especially when review scores, user scores and even the majority of impressions here in the Madden forum back up my opinion of the franchise.

If you enjoy Madden, great. I hope you keep enjoying it. And I agree, to each their own.
