I've realized recently just how much time I've spent focusing mostly on sports games the past 15 years or so. And while I'll never give up all sports games, one of my main video game goals is to start branching out to different genres. The games like Gears of War 4, Halo, etc. aren't necessarily my type of game or so I thought, but getting out of my comfort zone a little has been fun!

For me it's sports, MMOs and absolute time sink-style games (Diablo). I just get a lot out of things I can contribute to. MMOs let me build things with people I like playing with and become decade-long (if not longer) affairs. Very few exceptions (Rocket League).

As a result games like Quantum Break, Gears of War 4, the last Halo have gone with just an hour or two of play before gaming ADD kicked in and I went back to WoW or the latest Diablo season or some new hotness like Fortnite.

Alexa now controls Fire TV devices, may be of interest for those of you who were into Kinect functionality.

Edit to avoid the triple post... but some slick new controllers and a smaller wireless dongle for PC: https://news.xbox.com/2017/08/01/xbo...hoto_lrn_8.1.1

Didn't have any plans on purchasing a One X but, starting on August 31st until October 4th, I'm planning to stop at a Taco Bell for a $5 box. This deal is too insane not to try it.

Beginning August 31, each Taco Bell $5 Box will include a unique code for consumers to text in for a chance to win the new Xbox One X. Boxes will be available during the promotion from August 31 to October 4 at participating Taco Bell locations while supplies last. Throughout the duration of the promotion, a potential winner will be notified on an average of every 10 minutes. Winners will be the first to get their hands on the Xbox One X, as well as win Forza Motorsport 7 and a three-month Xbox Game Pass subscription with their console.

I'll give myself gastrointestinal trauma for a while to try this. I know a guy who won a PSVR or whatever from them. I bought those boxes 4 days in a row before I had to tap out given what was going on with me in the bathroom.

I won a PSVR from Taco Bell. There's always a free reusable code out there as well. I never eat at Taco Bell so you can win by spending no money.

LOL, I'll buy them but I'm not gonna eat that stuff for the very same reason.

Right now in the middle of the Story Mode for The Long Dark...that came out on the 1st. A fun survival game, definitely not for everyone though

Whoa, big Xbox update for insiders!

It’s an exciting day at Team Xbox as Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Ring will get a first look at the latest Xbox update. This release is the next major update for gaming on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, and is designed to make the Xbox gaming experience more fun, personalized, and social than ever. We’ve heard feedback from our fans that they want the ability to customize Home the way they want. This new experience on Xbox One gives gamers more choice and delivers fun faster. Updates to Home, Guide and Community are available today, with updates to Avatars, Game Hubs, Profiles and more coming this fall. Windows 10 PCs will also receive updates to the Game bar and Gaming settings menu. Here’s a detailed look at some of the new features that will arrive for Xbox Insiders starting today and continuing throughout the next few months: Customize Your Home: The first thing Insiders will notice is the new Home on Xbox One. This update is all about personalization; we're putting the control in your hands, so that you can decide what to see when you turn on your console. The new look and feel is part of a design system called Microsoft Fluent Design; the look, feel, and movement of the dashboard has been updated to focus on speed, customization and expression—for you. Now, customize your Home screen to be uniquely yours, and view all the things you love at-a-glance. Have a favorite game or friend? Add them to Home! Select one, press the Menu button on your controller, and select “Add to Home.” This now creates an entire block of content that can be moved up or down—or removed altogether, should your interests or habits change. These blocks will evolve over time based on the things you like to do. For example, adding a game to your Home screen may pull in an Activity Feed post from the developer, show when your friends are playing that game online, suggest your next Achievement, and provide a quick shortcut to the Game Hub for that title. We'll be adding additional types of content blocks in the coming months, so stay tuned for more. The team is always pushing to make the Xbox experience faster and faster. In this release, we’ve eliminated the wait between Home, Social, and My Games and Apps by consolidating them into one dashboard experience. No more splash screens means you get to fun even faster.

                            New UI.

More Gifs and explanations here. This looks like it will solve some of the minimalist complaints, you can pin (or not) entire sections of the OS to your home screen.

Windows 10's Fluent Design System is influencing every app, feature, and menu across Microsoft's entire device family like a Halo Flood infection ... but in a good way.

Quick question. I'm in the 377 position Level 30 for the Insider Project. What is the requirement to be on this "Alpha" ring for this?
I am the lesson after the fall.
