4k blu ray, 4k streaming. HDR. I believe digital foundry mentioned how the cpu is slightly faster and in games with unlocked frame rate you will get a minor boost over the OG XBO.

The issue seems to be that people don't pay attention. They hear 4k streaming, 4k upscale, and they just say oh yeah it plays games at 4k. Word of mouth, started by anyone, isn't much of an excuse because no matter how many people heard it, believed it, and went with it, it wouldn't sway the information for those who are informed or who know how to read product information.

EDIT - and seeing that you now have replied seemingly wanting to blame MS for it and being confusing...head back however many pages in this thread to when it released last year. I don't remember any single person being confused as to what it does or the product details being sketchy.

All my point is is that there is a great deal of confusion out there among consumers about 4K, HDR, gaming etc.

Yeah originally I was under that impression as well. I was debating on getting the S over the Pro (when the Pro first came out) to hold me over until the One X released. I did some 'search and that's when I realized the true difference. I believe they were throwing around "4K device" or something like that at the time. Whatever it was, it had me thinking it was more powerful than it was.

I'm getting Xbox One X and I am super excited about it. I also have a PS4 Pro but cannot stand not having the most powerful machine out there. It's like a disease or something haha.

I was considering getting Elite controller but some of the reviews out there make the durability sound like a major problem. I was curious if anybody would recommend getting the Elite controller or if I should just stay away. Thanks!

I have elite controller since it launched, still going strong.

Maybe to the casual uniformed gamer, but I knew it was a 4k MEDIA device only since the beginning. The original 360 upscaled games to 1080P even though none were 1080p. I remember the biggest things for the S was it being an updated xbox one with a slimmer design that plays UHD and HDR.

HDR is an upgrade, the games also are upgraded but many folks seem to fail to differentiate the 4K from HDR. That's where the confusion lies really.

I was having second thoughts about getting an X, and I seriously contemplated going for a PS4 Pro instead since I haven't had a PS4 in almost a year. Then I went into GameStop and finished paying off my X preorder. Haha

I just know I'll regret passing on the X once it releases, and it feels nice having it completely paid for now. I thought about trading in one of my XBox One consoles to pay the last $100, but now that it's paid off, I may just keep the One as a backup or put it in our middle kid's room. The trade-in credit is so crappy it's almost not even worth it at this point.

I felt the same way about their crappy $100 credit. I just decided I'll give the Xbox to a friend. As far as the X1X i have 2 preordered. One paid in full from Best Buy and the other from Amazon. I'll see how much I can get for one of them.

I have one where the disc is wonky again (but no errors, just won't read any discs and have to manually eject, odd). I'm just keeping that and in the future it'll go to the guest room if I get a S or something...Probably not getting anything new in the short term though, no real need.

GameStop is giving a extra 50 dollars if you trade in a Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. I'm going to trade my Xbox One in this week in order to help pay off my Xbox One X pre-order. With that $140 dollars, I will only owe 60 bucks and it will be paid off.

I like the light theme with the guide menu but I hate it when most of the screen is bright white. Had to switch back to dark because of that.
