Guess I'll pick mine up tonight, haven't done a midnight release any many years. Decided I'll go to a 9:35 showing of Thor then after that head over the Gamestop. Are ya'll getting in store extended warranty or Squartrade like warranties? Thought about Squaretrade but would rather have a place to take it to rather than having to ship it off in case something went wrong.

I always do Squaretrade because they are cheaper and reliable (they won't screw you over) but yeah you would maybe have to ship it somewhere. I doubt that will ever be the case though..

I haven't changed a single thing about my Best Buy order from the time I placed it on August 20th. And no sir, there's absolutely nothing petty about botched customer service and confusion around a large money purchase.

Especially for a company like Best Buy that is struggling mightily to compete with Amazon and Walmart.

There are four status items - placed, preparing, shipped, delivered. If they are shipping it out the day before, what exactly would change until it is actually preparing to ship? Amazon and Target and Walmart all do the exact same thing when shipping and when talking to customer support. You are making up reasons they are failing because you are worried over a non issue.

Amazon has a 4 year Squaretrade warranty for $45, but only if you bought it from Amazon. I'm jumping on that. They fixed my controller in 3 days, on my OG XB1!

You are correct if you were only talking about what is on their site but when you factor into what I was told by customer service this morning via their Twitter it appeared as if, and still may be, that I will not actually receive it on November 7th and there was also nothing put forth by customer service to indicate that I would even receive it by the end of this week.

Again, you are entitled to your opinion but I do not think it is "petty" to be skeptical and wondering about it considering it's supposed to be at my house tomorrow and the site remains the same. If I were picking it up at the store it may be a little different but as of today about 2pm the site still read no different than it did on August 20th. I would have thought, at the very least, my card would have been charged by early Monday morning and it would have went to the preparing stage. I am still skeptical that I will receive this from Best Buy by tomorrow but we shall see.

And no, Amazon is most certainly not the same from my experience. I use their site all the time for Tuesday releases. My card is usually charged over the weekend and the product usually shows shipped by Monday, sometimes Friday, and a UPS tracking # is provided. I have never, ever, ever, ever EVER been this late in the game, on a Monday near 4pm ET without a UPS tracking ID from Amazon for something I'm supposed to receive on Tuesday. Never. And I had over 200 orders with them this past year.

This is all I'm asking of Best Buy is their site to be semi-updated and/or for them to be able to give me a real, true status.

Either way, at this point, regardless if I get it from Best Buy or not tomorrow I do not plan to use them for major purchases going forward and will resume buying those items from Amazon. They blew it.

More emphasis on 1st party studios coming.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Spencer said that the company plans to increase investment in first-party games, whether that’s by starting new studios or acquiring existing ones. In addition, they will also invest more in developing in-house games from studios that Xbox already owns.

They tried before...and failed horribly. Hopefully this time they end up with a better result.

I don't completely agree. The problem is Microsoft has been unwilling to commit to the blueprint that has long-standing been proven to be successful by Sony and Nintendo. As a platform holder you can't just be about the tent-pole franchises. You have to continue to fund the new and risky, because you're the only one that can.

Early on in the 360 generation Microsoft were funding JRPGs to shooters, but then it shifted heavily to the big franchises. Their biggest franchises are now way down compared to the 360-era.

They will invest in something like Sunset Overdrive, but when it doesn't sell millions, it's deemed a failure. Sony and Nintendo don't have this mentality. Nintendo isn't out there funding the Pikmin's, Bayonetta's, Xenoblade Chronicles, No More Heroes, Sin and Punishments, ect., because they think they will sell millions. They do it because they understand the importance of variety and when you get enough of these niche titles, they make your platform more attractive.

The same is true for Sony. And now with something like 70 million PS4s shipped, they can invest even more in new IP, which is what their doing. Now it becomes less about each of these games individual sales and more about them collectively continuing to sell hardware.

The fact that Bloomberg is reporting this is good news and means it's not just PR speak, but it will take years to see the results. They also need to somehow convince more Japanese third-parties to bring their games to Xbox.
