All multiplats on X for me. Just seems like the right way to do it. Can’t wait for Red Dead and Division 2.Comment

Re: Xbox One
MS knows it won't beat PS4 this gen, but with Game Pass, probable secret streaming stuff, and trying to beef up first party games they're working for the future.
Especially since a next gen system will play current gen games (at least MS, maybe not PS4), the Game Pass aspects are big. They're definitely making the infrastructure more and more interesting, and I'm not sure that Sony's doing as much in this area. Maybe Sony doesn't need to, but MS is definitely doing more to make me want to stick with them over just a more powerful system (which PS4 was to start this gen, though the One X is better now).
Definitely interested in what the future holds....Sony seems somewhat stuck in their ways (cross platform gaming, no EA Access or any type of thing like Game Pass), but they may be doing stuff we don't know about too.
When I look at Game Pass and see that Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 were the first two major games on it day one and both are above average at best, it doesn't give me much hope to be honest. For Microsoft, it's all about Game Pass and like Netflix, seem to be more focused on quantity as opposed to quality. I'm expecting Crackdown 3 to be at the same level of those two previously mentioned games. The lone exception will be Forza Horizon 4 but hitting only 25% (1 in 4) in it's first year isn't exactly what I was hoping for.
Don't know if anyone listens to Rand Al Thor's/Jez Corden's Xbox podcast on youtube but listening to the latest one, both who are heavily favored towards Xbox are even getting turned off because of Game Pass and the direction of quantity over quality. Matt Booty and Spencer have said that both Ninja Theory and Undead Labs are going to be staying as is which has both of them (and myself) pissed off because like both of them, I want better quality games. I envision State of Decay 3 with all the existing survival elements and base building but with next gen visuals and far better enemy variety and an actual story/characters. I envision Ninja Theory of being elevated to the same level as a 343 and The Coalition because they are that damn great.
I'm truly hoping that those two studios get elevated to the AAA level. I would love to see Ninja Theory expand on what they've done with Hellblade and Enslaved and make an awesome open world action RPG at the level of Horizon Zero Dawn. They definitely have the talent to pull it off. Just need more money, time, resources and personnel which is what I assumed they would automatically get when Spencer announced acquiring them at E3.
After E3, I was very hopeful because four out of the five studios that were acquired/founded should be at the AAA level. Not held down. Every article I read based on Booty or Spencer honestly lessens that hope more and more. Really hoping that they prove otherwise next gen.
Microsoft's main weakness has been their first party studios and if after the five they acquired/founded, this area is still a weakness then that's a huge major issue for next gen.
As for Sony, im sure that they will have cross-play and PS4 backwards compatibility day one on PS5. No reason for them to do cross-play now business wise and PS3 is a huge pain due to that cell processor. EA Access would have been on PS4 (and not Xbox One) if Sony accepted but they refused.
Multi-platform games could go on Game Pass day one but depending on the game, I think that would cost Microsoft too much money to where it's not worth it. Plus, I think most publishers would just follow EA Access before putting their games on Game Pass day one.
Right now, im very hopeful for next gen and Xbox 4 but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they continue to let me down which outside of Gears 4 they've done since the release of Gears 3 in 2011. I'm simply expecting more, a lot more from Microsoft especially now with those five new studios.
Maybe im the only one but I don't know, I just want far better quality exclusives like Sony and Nintendo have. At this point, I don't think that's asking much.Last edited by peter42O; 08-30-2018, 06:05 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox One
It would be great if Microsoft had more single player exclusives in line with Sony’s but it really doesn’t concern me because I have a Pro too.
With that being said I get more life out the Forza Horizon, Gears and state of decay series than I get out of any sony exclusive. They are just two different animals and it’s all subjective. If you are a single player campaign person you will prefer Sony’s. If you like online and playing modes with friends you might prefer Microsoft’s exclusives. Sony has nothing like my favorite game mode which is gears horde. If they do I’ve totally missed it.
Also the gears and halo campaigns are no slouch so it kind of baffles me when people make it sound like Microsoft has nothing in the campaign department. Just because the online play is amazing in those games it doesn’t mean the campaigns are junk.Comment

Yea, very much so...Dolby Vision provides Metadata so that the player can do scene by scene adjustments to the lighting, whereas HDR10 is static..

Re: Xbox One
Game Pass is excellent but in no way, shape or form do I want Sony doing the same thing and having their exclusives on it day one. Main difference is that Sony's exclusives sell and get reviewed high by critics and fans. Even more so for Nintendo. Microsoft on the other hand, not so much outside of their big three.

All Sony exclusives I play once and beat inside a week and done with. Zero reason for me to play it again.
Multi plats i get tons of each year and play them all year long and all are best on the X which is why that is my gaming console. I go where the power goes. I am not married to a brandComment

Re: Xbox One
MS has concede this generation to Sony, for the past 2-3 years, they've been building for Next Generation. When you see Xbox-1X (mid-cycle upgrades), Game pass, Xbox All-Access, this is building for the future.

Re: Xbox One
I always have both consoles each gen, last gen was 360 for most games and ps3 for exclusives
This gen I went with the PS4 then PRo because it was the place were not only exclusives lived but multi plats were superior so I felt the Xbox one and S were irrelevant to me.
When the X came out we went back to how it was last gen. I use my pro for the exclusives which are here and there and short
Multi plats to me are what makes me happy as i get my moneys worth. And now that it is superior on the X, there is no reason to just play them on the PRO because I had it before.
I spend a lot of money on speakers and high end tvs and monitors to settle for less.
These companies work for my money, I dont spend money to cater to either brandComment

Gears 4 campaign was great except for the gameplay aspect near the end that I absolutely hated. Would have been my 2016 goty if not for that aspect. Ryse and Quantum Break were good. Dead Rising 3 was honestly a bore. Those are the four exclusives that I have played for the campaign.

I'll be playing AC Odyssey to completion and will then play the expansions since I pre-ordered the Gold Edition but I haven't played any game more than six months from it's respective release date. If im not all in 100% and it's a fully single player game (like I am with AC Odyssey), it's simply a one and done for the base game, trade it in and move on to the next game on my list.
I'm not married to any brand either but im always going to favor the console that gives me what I want the most - single player campaigns with a great story, narrative and characters. It comes down to which console caters to what you want the most. For me, it's single player campaigns with a great story, narrative and characters. In this regard, it's not even a competition.
Everyone should favor the console that gives them what they want the most. Don't see why anyone would look at it any differently.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I agree 100% with you in regards to if you prefer single player story driven games or online games. If you're an online gamer, Microsoft's exclusives will definitely cater to you more than Sony's.

In fairness, every game for me is a one and done. Except for The Witcher III (due to the expansions), I haven't replayed a game since RE 4 on PS2. It doesn't matter if it's a Sony exclusive, Microsoft exclusive, Nintendo exclusive or a multi-platform game. Once it's done, it's done. Plus, I play a good amount of games every year so replaying any game would honestly be a waste of my time.

This is about many having both consoles and how we view each. This being an xbox thread means that we will most likely speak on that instead.
Mulit plats being one and done for you or extensive time for me means what it means for each other but it does not mean it is equal on the pro and x, why would I want to buy my multi plats being one and done or replaying it a lot on the inferior machine? that makes no senseComment

Re: Xbox One
nobody is denying that sony offers the best exclusives but like you are about exclusives, am about multi plats because they come out in bunches yearly and offer far more replay value, if you do not get any replay value on multi plats then that is cool for you.

Re: Xbox One
You really got to have both systems, which is why I think the constant bickering about which console is better is silly. Use that time you spend on OS console war'ing to get a second job and just go buy the other console I sayStreaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
