Anyone play The Forest?

I've watched streams but have not played it. It looks pretty good so far.

From the survival games list you have

• DayZ
• H1Z1
• 7 Days to Die
• The Forest
• Stranded Deep
• Hurtworld
• ARK
• Rust
• SubNautica
• The Long Dark
• Project Zomboid

I'd say they all offer a different experience of some degree. Some are also progressing at a faster pace. On that list, I've played DayZ, H1Z1, 7 Days to Die, and Project Zomboid.

DayZ is still moving slowly and is more focused on PvP experiences

H1Z1 is your Battle royale experience, not so much a survival game at the moment.

7 Days to die I hate and is one of the only games I've returned to steam. Seemed pointless and hard just for the sake of it.

Project Zomboid is really neat, like sims meets zombie survival.

ARK is probably going to end up getting played at my LAN next month. Last year we tried The Forest I think, or a few of us did, and didn't get far due to technical issues.

Anything over Don't Starve, I suck so bad at that game.

Only game I'm hoping to see go on sale which I'll grab is SQUAD. I find a $40 early access launch price is a little steep, but I'll bite if its closer to $30.

Old school Fallout 1/2/cRPG fans...

Check out this game called UnderRail. You can get it for 10 bucks now (which is a real steal for this gem...steam, GoG) The price is gonna go up real soon, from what I understand.

It's been in early access for a while, but finally getting a release today (18th)

Of course they are. People love being dicks. Hell on Reddit someone was making star wars spoiler titles on popular game topics. Same with IGN.

Its a shame these 3 year olds get internet privileges and feel the need to ruin stuff for others.

Anyone play The Forest?

I've only got 20 hours in The Forest, but I do like it. There is a decent amount of content in it and the AI is done well. It's nothing groundbreaking, but there are different personalities in the AI. Some are just pure scouts and will not want to engage with you and will run should you get near them. Others will not be afraid of you, or at least act like it, and will do a charge to get your reaction. If you hold your ground they might back off and not fight you as they see you mean business.

I haven't played it in awhile, but co-op was a little hit or miss. A lot of things weren't synced up and you couldn't trade gear with one another, but I believe those have since been fixed and/or worked on.

The game is strictly PvE which I don't mind. The survival aspect of it isn't the most challenging, or it wasn't when I last played. Animals spawn all over and do not act skittish at all so it's very easy to rack up on meat and fill your meat rack within a day or two in the game. If you craft a couple rain catchers you'll be set on water as well.

I do enjoy the game, but every time I go to play it it mostly turns into me and my buddy having all the supplies we need to survive and we either look to engage the enemies or we just try and build whatever is newly added to the game to see what it's like.

It just lacks some challenge right now IMO, but it has definitely improved a lot since it was first released and I think it has a lot of potential. I usually spend a couple hours after each major update seeing what's new, but the lack of challenge makes it hard for me to keep coming back day after day when other games(DayZ) offer more of what I want in a challenge.

I played Counter-Strike today for the first time in 8 months and the first game somebody's name ruined Star Wars. Upset but what can I do - I know this world is full of those people.

Good thing you avoided the Madden Draft Champion EA tournament stream on twitch last week. The chat was constantly spammed with spoilers over and over.
